  1. Musky or specks - makes sense, thanks i think the 14 may be the way to go. would be nice to go 16 but cost is an issue and i don't have that much gear anyway. Danbo - a tandem kayak eh, will have to check it out before deciding. Thanks guys Berge
  2. been looking to buy a canoe for a while now. started looking around and most likely have settled on buying a sportspal. I am looking at the 12 ft or the 14 ft, but not sure. 2 people will be in the canoe and it will mainly be used for fishing smaller lakes and rivers. My question is can i get away with buying the 12 ft or should i go for the 14 ft? any feedback is appreciated. Thanks Berge
  3. Hey napjohn, the lady had brown hair but not really on the big side my friend says. just very rude. Rick, no signs at that park - yet - . i went for a walk at the park today and saw a few people fishing. maybe she only gets out in the evening. That law may have no teath but i don't think too many people have the time to test it out. Berge
  4. Well, my friend having never been there before and also being with his son i think made the right decisionto just walk away. But i think i'm going to go for a carp outing myself later this week and see if i run into her. I know that many people fish at that park because i have seen people fishing there before. i guess it would be kind of sad if they really closed that park to fishing as it's a decent place to picnic and fish. The way he explained it i don't think he had much of a chance to talk at all, due to her yelling at him and threatening him with a fine. He just wanted to remove his son from the situation. Berge
  5. I'll try to make this short but i am a little ticked. My friend asked me for a spot to take his son, he wanted to try and fish for carp and i remember walking through that park and seeing carp. So i told him to go there and try. He went to the park with his son yesterday (sunday) evening and after a couple of hours a lady yells at them to stop fishing as there is no fishing along the shoreline at that park. So he packs up his stuff and he and his son start walking to the car when this lady stops him yelling at him that she is from the toronto conservation authority and there is no fishing here and that she tells him that this is the second day that she has seen him there with his son. She also told him to never come back to the park or he would get a heavy fine. needless to say he was a little confused as he didn't see any signs stating no fishing and there were other people fishing and this was his first time there but she says she has been watching him at that spot for a few days. Now if i had known that there was no fishing in that park i wouldn't have sent him there. He says this lady was very rude and he tried to tell her that this was his first time there and that he saw no signs but she just yelled at him to leave or face a fine. Why was he targeted and not the other fisherpeople in the park? He had a couple of small bags of garbage, he likes to clean the area he fishes as that would set an example for his son. Have we lost another area to fish? Berge p.s. i'm at work so will not be able to respond until later.
  6. With the weather warming my son and i have headed out to try a few tribs northward and have been rewarded with some energized and hungry steel. these fish jumped and faught like fall fish, a few pics from past couple of weeks. thats it for us with the steel as the rivers we go to are pretty much empty now of steel. Berge
  7. Thanks all. It wasn't really a surprise that nobody was there, since it is a couple weeks after opener. That river can get a little crazy busy but it was mothers day, and i had the ok from the mothers as long as we made it back for dinner. Oh and no we didn't get any oos smallies. Silvio good luck with the surgury, you'll be back fishing in no time. No crowds -great-, nice weather -very good-, hungry steelies -heart pumping-, day of fun and fish with my son -PRICELESS-. Berge
  8. My son is back from University and we went out last weekend searching for steel but couldn'd get any so off we went again sunday morning and we intercepted a bunch of very fiesty and hungry steelhead. This is hardly a secret spot so didn't mess with the background, i think the backgrounds make the pictures that much better. enjoy. Berge
  9. Hey Silvio, hope the wrist gets better soon. No thank you is needed, and you are always welcome to share a drift with me anytime. But if you ever fall off a dirtbike again just before a planned trip.............. lol . we have to get your dad to come out again, maybe a bass outing. oh and it was great to meet your whole family, very nice. 10. I baught some glow paint powder from angling specialties in concord last summer. Took all my beat up cleos and snaded all the paint of and applied the powder and baked them in an oven. They glow brighter and for a longer time then the glow cleos you can buy ready. A little bit of trial and error but once you get it right they work great. caught lots of salmon on them in the early fall from piers at night. hope that helps

  13. thanks for all the good remarks, i was actauly expecting some ripping from some guys. demasse - yes i love fishing for salmon too, they are alot of fun. ccmtcanada- I have told him that he's very lucky that his gf love fishing as much as he does, and yes lots of fun was had by all. My son loves salmon and rainbow fishing but now that he's gone to university he doesn't get to fish as much, so when he comes home we always find time to get out. Berge
  14. Hey JF, i guess i did forget to mention the GF. And yes women in waders, told my son he's very lucky. Thanks for the replies. Berge
  15. My son came home from University for thanksgiving with his girlfriend and we headed out to do some salmon fishing. For those that think all salmon hooked in rivers are snagged or flossed, we could see these fish circle around and come back to our floats and then wham float down and fight on. Was alot of fun and in the two days of fishing we had, we landed many fish. Here's a few pics of my son with the salmon. Berge
  16. Silvio, nice pics. Oh and i was waiting for like a half hour and you were zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. hahahahahaha. we'll half to go down there again. Hope you rod gets fixed up. Berge
  17. Hey Silvio, yes thats the one i was telling you about. Hey bud, you fishing this weekend? Berge

  19. Pics look a little small. Not sure how to make them bigger. Berge
  20. Went to chuck spoons for salmon off a rivermouth but instead of Salmon a walleye hit my cleo. There used to be many of these fish at this spot in the past, was a bit of a surprise. We got into a few salmon also but the camera battery died and couldn't get a pic of the salmon. Berge
  21. first , yes they do bite out of anger and instinct and for those that think the rivers are a slaughterhouse you should see whats been going on in the real slaughter house - the lake fishermen kill way more than the river fishers do. bb
  22. thank you, i'll let them know to stop into Bass Haven. Berge
