Yeah I did this on the Niagara river running plows a few years back with Raf. I had the rod in my hand with the handle behind my back and I was the rod holder. I did this for 6 hrs and it was not that easy. Need some muscle to do this.

You can still have a good day on the water without one. Use the wind, as mentioned, and drift with it. Use your anchor to hold your spot for a bit and use the 8 hp motor for positioning or even back trolling.

Top gun does not breathe right even with the vents. You end up developing mold on the inside of the cover eventually.

I was planning on a weekend up north of north bay. No campfires kind puts a damper on the whole experience. I guess that I will have to decide on whether to take the chance and have an open fire when I get there. Maybe have a pail of water ready if the fire gets out of hand ( doubt it).
