Happy birthday Lew! Hope you had a good one!

NOT
Maybe you'd change your mind if I threw in some scuds...

Yes Brian.. we discussed this last year. No different than a downrigging rod with the rod used to take up the slack when the release clip pops... IF that's how this one works. Who was it .. Rick?
Yup this one is the same, completely legal. Might get you to pick one up for me B

3....?
Nah! Two knots, one at the hook and one at the leader to main line.
I subscribe to the KISS theory and it's worked for 40 years .
Oh and congrats Brian, another technique in your arsenal.
You got it! No swivel for me, main to leader with a blood knot then to the hook, no need for anything more!
-
I use the same XXXS Raven swivels I do from shot > leader. No issues here. Braid also cuts down on the line twist as well, although you always get a bit (But nothing like running mono)
Not a question about the swivel but the knots, no matter how good you are at tying you'll mess one up eventually, your rig then has five knots, seems a lot simpler to wallis if you ask me. Congrats Brian!

Nice fish! I want to see Mike's pics!

Thanks for the help guys, I ended up settling and am going with the standard jig head/bead/pin method.
-
Thanks, I get a little concerned ordering from the states. I need these things within about 3 days at most, anyone have an idea of what size brass bead equals 1/100oz?
-
I forgot to mention, they have to be within the GTA or nearby with fast and inexpensive shipping (someone like Luremaking.com).
-
The title pretty much explains it, I need fly jigs in 1/100oz (in bulk preferably) for a decent price. The only place around here I know sells them is BPS but I don't like to buy anything there and it's too expensive anyways. I'm also looking for 5/32" gold brass tying beads in bulk packs.
Thanks,
Chris

That's a beautiful animal. I've never been able to get that close to one. Where in the park did you take the picture?
If it counts we once found a dead one in Crotch, could get really close to that one. Nice pic WSB!

Funny how all of our hats turned the same pale orange colour, eh?
-
Sweet catch! Don't ya love a good hat?
-
you wont get the same level of service from the guys in the fishing dept. at SAIL in Vaughn. They have a much better selection but don't expect any help...lol.
What's you're experience?
-
I can't believe you guys haven't seen it before! It's a great one, watch it a couple times a year.
-
I'm in, I kind of forgot about it after February last year but a day on the ponds sounds fun

Congrats Ron! How was Nipigon?

You know of the Blue Boat house? I guess on that lake everyone knows of the blue boathouse.

The bridge
The point
Carp marsh
Seagull rock
Perch powerup
WE've got to find ourselves bass powerup some day

Unless your name is Arlo Guithrie, you pass through Stockbridge Mass. And decide to litter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjKF7aQthcQ
Well I wouldn't call $50 financially crippling

Now that's a teaser alright. Surface flies for brookies...WoW. Looking forward to the full article and loved the video, especially the transition to the underwater releases. I have the Kelly Gallop Zoo Couger pattern, but that mouse pattern looks interesting. Do you have a link to the tying instructions?
The morrish is fairly easy to tie and floats like a cork. Tie in a tail of leather, followed by a tapered strip of black foam. Spin a body of deer and trim the belly short leaving the sides long. Cut a groove in the hair on top of the fly and pull the foam over the whole thing tying off at the eye, there should be about a half inch of foam extending past the eye.
Anyone ever ice fish for speckled trout on a small creek/river?

Well I can teach you to fly fish too
Post the results when you get out there! Just remember the current will play with any sonar and baits.
