Really? I was right at the mouth I just assumed that they were bass feeding I was on the yacht club side. Are there any rivers closer to cooks bay that have them running? I was using bread, I also found some dead minnows from seagulls that I also tried jigging, should I try something else?

Just got back from beaverton! lots of bass jumping around me a couple of panfish nibbles but no sucker in sight maybe they're further upstream?

I really think that you should try algonquin again, try kitten lake no portages, no motor boats, good fishing, close to access point also if you prefer there is a cabin there if the kids get a little tired! I wouldn't do masssasagua, there aren't any motor boats but it's on georgian bay which can get pretty rough, I've never been to massasagua but that is my feeling about it kids are just too young for it.

Since the crappie haven't been biting maybe I'll check it out tonight!

My favourite lodge is kenuk it is run by fairmont hotels, it's in southwestern quebec, when you stay at one of the cottages you actually get your own lake in some parts! And with such little pressure it's really easy to fish, if you want to get your kids into fishing then stay at the hidden lake cabin (I think it's called that) just cast a worm out and you have a fish! Also I know that I'm being fairly specific here but it's private and it's not like 50 guys are going to show up one night!

Just don't post your secret spots, just give general locations, and if someone else posts your secret spot then it was never really secret, just no precise locations please.
