  1. Nice cave, but that poker set is gonna need a bigger table to call home B)

No cave here yet, the kids have a lot of growing to do before I can claim the basement as my own

The wall where the Muskie and Artie The Antelope hang is coming down before spring.... this will add another 15'

    to the cave...

I already have plans for a poker table and a pool table and a more masculine paint scheme.

  2. ... Since I hab a colb and am not going fishing today..

I'm sitting in my {new to me saying for basement} "Man Cave" and looking around and wondering if anyone else has "permission" from their wife to claim such a space in the house to call their own.

I had a 2 bedroom apartment in the basement of my house.. a few years back we decided to not rent it out anymore.. I then had room to decorate it at will with all my stuff and build a little bar.

The only stipulation my wife has .."No Brass Poles"

    A few pics..

  3. I'm a BIG fan of these 3 Storm Lures..... They helped me catch countless ESOX during the 2008 season..

The lures were TRASHED by fall of 2008..... :stretcher:

I bought replacements and used them confidently during my 2009 season...

I didn't even get a ,boil a swirl ,tap, bump, nudge, strike, hit, slap, splash, tic, or follow. :wallbash:

    Strange how that is....

I will try my best to use them confidently in my 2010 season.... I hope my luck with these will change..

  4. Re: Granite...

Apparently ... seen it on TLC... that granite countertops MAY contain Radon which is a carcinogen ...some countertops have been tested to have Radon emissions equivalent to 2 1/2 packs of smokes a day..

The recommendation was to have a Geigercounter available when purchasing a Granite countertop..

anything below .x?ppm of radiation is acceptable..

I don't wanna make you worry but here's a link..

  5. A young man apparently hit a rock at high speeds with his snowmobile ejecting both him and his girlfriend

...I just got back from Cache Bay ...@ around 13:00 this afternoon ... the West Nipissing Search & Rescue sleds & sleighs drove by with flashers on at 75mph...followed closely by Volunteer vehicles carrying EMT's

With an Ambulance and plenty of OPP's on shore ...

20 Minutes later a F 150 drove by carrying 2 EMT's in the bed performing CPR on the young 17 yr old victim..

I know the family and the Individual..... his prognosis is bleak and might not live.

Prayers go out to the family.

    THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that . . . I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen!

Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe! We used to go play outside for hours without any parents around and all year around. You kids you're going outside for one hour and you're too cold or hot or you're bored. You would rather play video games or watch tv sitting on your ass all day.

There were no MP3' s or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and screwing it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and the tape would come undone.. Cause - that's how we rolled, dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!

There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror.. And then there's TEXTING . yeah , right. You kids have no idea how annoying you are..

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel! NO REMOTES!!!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-buggers!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! And make good popcorn in a pot on the stove! Imagine that!

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or before!

  7. I have an Expedition, it will pull anything you want. I think I get about 1-2 miles per gallon!!!!

I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer with all possible performance add-ons and wouldn't trade it for anything except better fuel economy with the boat in tow 11 MPG on a good day.

    Gull2009001.jpg

    Or maybe this?

    f650.jpg

But in all seriousness ....full sized SUV or 1/2 ton ... I wouldn't settle for anything less...

It's not to say that the Minivans or Compact Trucks aren't capable of towing your boat...

But are they capable of stopping the rig in a safe distance??? I know that my Buddy's ZR-2 Sonoma has a REALLY hard time slowing down his 18' Lund....and Mikey's Ranger can barely stop his 18'Ranger even with electric brakes.

    Play Safe.

  8. really...I wonder how it was for stopping on ice

As I recall I started tapping the brakes roughly a mile before reaching the spot...

Surprisingly you can still manage to steer at those speeds without spinning out... But you have to be ready to countersteer..

There was roughly 1/4 mile between the OPP Sleds an I.....Had I known that they were OPP ... I probably would've attempted to slow down a little...

Back then they rode Ski Doo Safari Cheyenne 503 that top out at about 70.

  9. I just updated my Firefox and everything is in French...not that there's anything wrong with that...but I prefer the English version...Computer is set to English & re-started ..yet my browser and searches are all still in French??? Does anybody know how I can fix it ? <"""><

  10. I once passed two OPP sleds @ 200 KPH  with my 1983 T-Bird on my way to the Goose from Sturgeon.

This was in 1992 I think.... we barely had snow and a lot of ice.

They caught up to me when I was punching my first hole near the islands...

They scalded me for driving like a lunatic.. but had nothing on the books to charge me with.

Last year I exceeded 160 Kph with the Expedition {by myself}... but my average is about 35-50 depending on the road.

I know I'll get bashed for It by some members... I know that I'm causing a pressure wave ahead of me and it's dangerous and can cause a crack to blow up in front of me.....

... but you know what every once in a while IT'S FUN!! :w00t:

  11. Hey Randy do they still sell the door stopper ones up your way? I bought a couple from Bobs Bait on trout lake in North Bay about 15 years ago and my buddy left them on the ice last year. They were made by a local guy nicely painted. I think I paid 10 bucks for them. thanks

Sure do!!! Most tackle shops carry them. I think they're selling at 20$ or so nowadays.

  12. One of my modified "door stop" Tip-Up..... It works great for everything I've ever caught through the ice.

There are many variations of this particular set up...Just make it how you like it.

As for the auger, I have a FinBoreIII 8" with offset handle and it works great...With sharp blades I manage 12-15"

of ice in about a minute.

Be safe on the Ice have fun.
