Nice cats as always!!

Will the river be fishable this weekend? The creeks are up to there banks here on the north shore?

The river is allways fishable for Cats dirty high water turns them on ...and cliff i will do my best to not eat all my smoked Cat so yummy its hard ...or i will just go out and get a few more for the smoker lol...

Well we finally got a nice warm rain and the cats are smoken now ...going to be a awesome weekend for those big cats lots of derby time left to catch the big one my guess is one around 25 will win this year ...Water Temp is 58 deg following perfect Top Bait Cut Bait and Big Dead Shinners ....Monday night we landed over 15 good cats and 7 for the smokers ...

Good rain here today is going to make fishing on Fire for the Cats ...are you in the derby

May 1st, and usually you troll... worm harness's, body baits, and my favorite go too... a twister tail...

 

Weather is usually cool, and windy so bring lots of warm clothes

 

It is a great time, a ton of people and a fun competition

the regs state I can only use white and longnose sucker as "live" bait .. can I use different types of suckers as cut bait??

Especially on the Grand... it is a poachers paradise!

Thats not true they are around Dunnville often now ...seen them 2 times this week allready ...and remeber your only allowed to use certain suckers for Bait,,,,

Ice is in great shape this year for the tourney with 8 to 10" now and getting thicker every night ...going to be some good prizes this year and some good cash to be won ...even a Salmon Fishing Charter will be up for Grabs ...hope to see a few ONFer's out for this event...Fishmaster

Well guys we checked all over the Lower River yesterday and it seems everything has frooze up soild now ...with anywere from 6 to 10" of ice ...looks like the Derbys a GO for next Saturday ...see ya then Fishmaster

Went for a ride down river today to try the 22fow area marked lots of fish no takers got there late need to try 1st light and before dark ...ice is from 6 to 10" in all places checked today ...going to hit a few more spots tonight ....

Just got off the ice what a cold morning out there ice is in good shape today with 4 to 6" in the middle of the river .Marina ice 8 to 10" ..will be putting the big huts back out today ...water still a little murky but fishable ....

Well with the cold temps it's maken ice again on the River found 3 to 4" in most areas checked ...ice should be in great shape by the weekend ...water is murky and flowing so if your not a die hard with out a floater suite i would give it a few days ...

I placed one hut out to try tonight ....

With the rain we have pulled our huts from the river... we will post when the ice is safe again...

Here is a few Vidoes I took yesterday on the ATV on the Lower Grand River ...as allways use caution anywere you Ice Fish ....still no rain here yet as of Sunday at 10.15am but they are calling for heavy rain this afternoon ... tuesday wednesday its going to get really cold so it should be all good weather till the Walleye Tourney Feb 13th ...if you need more info on ice conditions feel free to give me a call before heading out ....

Did the same thing today on the pond ended up on my ass clets and all ...

It wasn't all that bad today but ya need water proof boots in spots...freezing here right not should be solid tommrow ...

Well now all the snow is gone of the ice its freezing back up again ...still lots of good safe ice out there today with 6 to 10" ...

couple walleye were caught this morning seems maybe the bite is going to get better ...going to be a nice sunday to be out ice fishing get out and enjoy ...Fishmaster

Milk co. see their basket hanging there , they will be upset, want it back and maybe charge you.

These hut are sweet for being mobile on the grand but I thought I would build a couple to be really comfy and warm ....Now with the ice being 6 to 8" im good to go ...

We are now running Atv's and Sled down river fished 6 " of soild black ice yesterday lost a hog and had 1 fish break off my buddie ...Black and Silver Buckshots and Jiggin Shads have been good tipped with minnows ... BEST BITE HAS BEEN 7:30 to 8:30 AM AND HITEING TILL 10:30 AM

Well this cold snap is maken some good ice on the River now took a ride down river last night on the ATV to find 4 to 6 inches in pretty much all the river ...go get them Walleye guys ...i will be out in search of |Walleye later today will report this eve ...Fishmaster
