One thing I have learned through experience is temperature is critical for the best results. I use a digital remote thermometer so I can monitor the internal temperature without having to open the oven door.

Best piece of equipment in my kitchen. Without it, a lot of things just wouldn't be the same. I use it for everything, and it makes such a huge difference. I'm totally lost without one now lol

  2. I have this set up, and do it as you described. I just have the two batteries wired together with the 2 AWG jumpers, then the TM connected to one battery.  My charger is connected to one battery, and they both charge. It takes a little longer to charge them if they are low, but still faster than charging 2 separately, and its very rare that I drain them. I charge them on 10A.

I can troll steady at 1.5mph for hours and hours with no worries about draining the batteries.

Sorry reread that post a number of times and must have a mental block? What kind of American hunters that are in need of something warm and coozy? (Coozy not a spelling mistake LOL)

    Dan.

Minnisota, michigan, and the dakotas are frozen solid right now. They are ice fishing.

Yep, I've been that way for at least 30 years. I rarely even consider fishing from duck opener unitl ice up. Before that, I would cry because I was too "young" to go on the cold days with my old man. I was dragged through the marsh from about 5 years old, and still to this day, love it more than anything else. I got my license the day I turned 16, and haven't looked back.

The point is to get off of the grid and possibly have enough to charge an electric vehicle or to possibly feed the grid with surplus as an income supplement after I retire

    Good luck.

Like I said, just buy the generator, and thank me later. Your not retiring on profits from a solar system, unless you have a few hundred acres of land to cover in panels, and even then, you lose the value of your otherwise useful land, so its not a good way to use solar.

Sure you can invest 20+ grand into a solar system to get off the grid, but you have to replace it again in +/- 10 years, so your just throwing money away that can fuel your generator, that will still be running like the day you bought it 10 years ago.

Solar just hasn't come far enough yet, or everyone would be doing it.

Buy used or buy new? Buy on the word of an individual or buy from a manufacturer that must give some form of warrantee. Any machine can break; but for a purpose built machine why not go new?

    Just questions not a rebuttal.

I'd buy a used sled. Way more versatile, and much better unit. I've used the snowdog, and they are OK for going A to B on the lake, but hit a hill, or slight slope coming off the lake, and they turn into a nightmare pretty quick.

Just my opinion, but I'm not a fan.

  9. Waterfowling is my #1 addiction. Good luck paying your bills from now on LOL....seriously....

I've been playing that game since I was just a kid tagging along with my old man, now I have had to build an extra large shed just for some of the gear. Its rediculous.

There's no place I'd rather be than in a marsh at daylight though. Its something special just being there.

Search for used gear on marketplace etc.....One thing I will tell you from a lot of experience is you don't need fancy gear to kill ducks. Just get lots :)

    It’s a snowdog clone

    don’t need insurance or license

it has its place, real good for early ice and late ice

I think the husky was around a long time ago, but just came back into production. I could be wrong, but there used to be a similar unit called a husky back in the day.

Either way, for the price of either, you could have a decent used sled.

This time of year I don't put many miles on the truck Norm so I'm not really too concerned about it.

You should be concerned. Everyone should. But, instead, we all just sit here and pay the price they want. Its complete garbage. Biggest scam going, among a million others that we just let ride for no reason. This country is a complete mess. Won't be able to afford to live here soon.

We were just spoiled with the ridiculously low Covid gas prices when crude oil prices collapsed. Then Trudeau snuck in his carbon tax. Which, I believe, is to go significantly higher.  But then we get the rebate 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think calling fair gas prices rediculously low, is rediculous. This country is a complete mess. Its only getting worse.

or buy the gizmo that allows you to refill the small bottles from a 20 lb tank...................

I have one, and I still prefer the bigger tanks. Like wayne, I use a 20ber. Things just work better using the big tank. No freeze up, no low running, always full heat at all times. No strain on the tank with that volume.

My 5lb tank is also great, but I only really use it when I'm walking or hauling a ton of gear into the back woods.

Regardless, the 1lb tanks are hazardous waste. You can't even get rid of them, so they end up in the ditch. I hate those things.
