  1. Tremclad is good too, as long as you thin it out and put a few coats on. Car paint is a bit more durable and can also be rolled. For the jeep and the trailer though, its flat Olive Green. The boat will be done in Gloss black tremclad, the inside will be flat rolled on. Just killing time sprucing things up while I am waiting for the ice to melt.

  2. Yah, with only a 6 inches off tongue. I am not too worried about it. And being I tow it with a Jeep, I gotta be real careful anyway. Next job is to paint the trailer the same color as the jeep. I painted the TJ last weekend...

Here is a pic of the TJ, after the OG paint scheme. Only half done in the pic but you get the idea. Trailer is gonna go the same color.

  3. Well I hooked up the motor and backed it in and wouldn't yah know it... literally like 3 inches from fitting in. I could just angle it but I wanna try and get it in... Not much room...

    So here goes...

    All done...

Very happy. Saved me from buying the hinge do hickey. If it was like a foot off I wolda got the hinge, but only a few inches.. just not worth it.

  4. Excellent info. I have often wondered how they got 589LB 4 person capacity for my Boat.

If I took 3 of my friends fishing with me, I would most definately be over the limit.

Avereage height of 5'8" BMI of 150pds, times 4 people is 600 pds....now the typical american at 5'8" is likely 225 pds. :) Add a few Ultra Super Biggie Wendy's burgers and now your boat only holds 2 people.

Why not just have a weight rating, rather than a person rating. 2 adults and 3 kids in a 14 footer may be fine but 3 big fat dudes may sink it. :)

  5. There is room for the tongue to fold out of the way as the tounge is fairly long past the A arm where it hooks up to the trailer.I too have a short armed utility and its a pita. I can back it up np but other that have tried curse and swear. Still undecided as to what I am going to do. I am going to hook up the motor to the boat this weekend and see how much I need to lose. If its within 12 inches I think I'll just cut it off. Part of the other thing is I can't let the A arm get too close to the jeep, as I have a 31" tire on the back and plans for 35's so I need to keep enough room to be able to use the cranky. :)

  6. I can do all the welding, cutting, drilling no problem. I was thinking of just looking for a sleeve to go over the 3x3 tube, but not sure how easy it would be to find one. For 75 bucks the hinge is all I need. I only need to shave off half a foot to fit the 16' lund with motor inside the garage. This would save me so much headache come summer time if I could just back it in pull a pin and fold the tongue away. Right now she is all wintered up and tucked in with the motor off and it fits with about a foot and a half from tongu to door.

PM me your info so you can send me those plans you have I wouldn't mind seeing what you had in mind.

  7. I am not sure anyone here would say its safe. However I have a 16' lund and I bring a portable barbeque on mine and just set it up on the front casting deck and bbq all the time. Not even sure if thats legal or not.... maybe I should look into the legality of it.

  8. Just wounding what happened to bass pro? I was at the sale yesterday and many of the sale prices were still higher than the regular price at other prices? I did drop 80 buck on some plastics an what not. I regret some of the things though as they're still cheaper at ctc even. Like the live target frog I bought for 11.49 is 10.99 at ctc. I know 50 cents. But cheaper is cheaper. I don't mind paying more for device but I don't think anyone goes to bps for service... This isn't a knock bass pro thread. Just a head up..
