Art already said it...
And he is absolutely correct.
Guns dont kill people.
People that wanna kill people, kill people
That will never change, no matter what you or the government or the Un does
-
So what about the thousands of car related injuries/deaths that happened yesterday alone????

Give it a rest, Joe. Give it a friggin' rest!! We really don't need to hear that same old tiresome old argument/rationalization/justification at this time.
Why? Its perfectly rational.
And joepa, I agree.
Remember the US has already overthrown a tyrannical government/occupation.
Thats why the 2nd is there as well.
Anyone tries to abolish it and youll have over 60,000,000 armed people defending their god given rights
-
Ughh. Does anyone even know (aside from art) why the 2nd ammendment is so important to our southern friends?
Debate it all you want, it is not going anywhere withouth a massive fight(and I dont mean in court)

I only use 1 or two hooks.
I rarely troll so I make mine shorter as well so I can cast them with a keel/snap weight.
I use smaller hooks as well.
I love red hooks too( i foget, who makes the ones northland tackle uses for jigs)
Dont use those, they suck. Wimpiest hooks ever.
Last bulk bunch I bought were VMC offset hooks, I think they are black nickel, or something similar to that. I like those.
I use p line barrel swivels and they are fantastic, but pricey.
Im a snap clevis only guy, I like to switch up blades quick. Up here smaller colorados outperform anything.
And as fancy as the blades are now, my go toos are hammered copper or hammered silver. They seem to work everywhere in any condition.
I also buy alot of beads at walmart, but I also go to fabric shops etc and find some good stuff waaaay cheaper than "fishing beads" lol
12/14lb line is perfect IMO unless searching huge gators
-
Tragedy indeed, very sad.
But, you wanna see alot more people die?
I pitty those that repeal the second ammendment in the US.
Youd have a civil unrest the past few generations have never seen the likes of.

I'll hook you up Manitou if needed.
from the looks of the thread coming back to life I need to go again soon
Thank ya sir!
Really wanna do this! Would be a blast!

OI is correct if you plan on using it for navigation/fishing.
A tablet in the boat is as good as a tablet at the bottom of the lake
-
I pulled into the driveway this afternoon and hear a hoopin and a holerin from the lake a few hundred yards out, Holy Hell this and that. One of those evenings where you can hear across the lake a 1/2 mile. Dead calm. There is a Seadoo thing towing what looks like a tube. What's the big deal? The Seadoo takes off and the guy behind him is 10 to 15 feet above the water for 25 to 50 feet at a time. It's or as close to flying as you can get, he's flying. I mean he's really flying. I remember seeing a You Tube of these things. I think they are banned here. He was flying!!!! I want to do it before I die of "fishing is exciting".
Those guys sure won't forget today, legal or not
Sounds like a blast!
Give me a call man. Been too long
-
We missed our calling, me thinks.
Nah, youve just hit your stride!

You two need to film a fishing show.
It would be hilarious?
-
Gordie loved fishing, I have a vhs show of him and Red Fisher on a trip .
He was my hero when I was a boy, never missed an episode of
"Hockey Night In Canada" years ago when the original 6 played great games.
R.I.P. Mr. Hockey.
Id love to see that!!!
-
-
Id ride my bike but its like 35km one way.
Then im screwed in the winter when I have to cross country ski.
Plus side Id be ready for an olympic event in like 2 years(maybe that marathon walking or boche)
-
Its dead simple.
And if ya want security just use a dab of crazy glue on your knots
-
Nah those have been around for a long time.
But thats impressive! Especially in an era when many players drank and smoked like chimneys!
Never knew he liked to fish? One more reason to like him
I think it aired last season but anyone remember as his health was failing, they had a show during an intermission that showed him with his family? How close they were and how awesome of a parent, great grand parent he was. I really enjoyed seeing that.
RIP Mr. Hockey

Here's an idea. I'm retired and we have only one vehicle, a 2006 Liberty with 72,000 kms, what's that, 7200 kms a year but I just renewed my plates at $108, same as a high mileage driver
. Let's take this as the base amount and for everytime you multiply my mileage you multiply your license fee by a corresponding amount, so if you drive 5 X 7200 km. in a year, your license fee would be 5 X $108 dollars. Sounds fair to me. penalize those with a large carbon footprint.

You dont need a lawyer to fight a ticket.
And yes, I would put my phone in the glovebox and tell said officer to get a warrant.
Its a waste of the judges time and isnt gonna happen.
And id use a cheap ready to go if I was doing this. Not an iphone or a samsung etc.
Just playing devils advocate here.
Some laws are incredibly easy to skirt around.
-
Sure they do MB, they can choose not to use their phones while behind the wheel! Once they have made a choice, they must be prepared to deal with the consequences. Unfortunately, those consequences can end very badly for innocents.
I still think that if you are caught, confiscation of the phone is the best answer. Escalating levels of confiscation based on repeat offenders should also be considered.
HH
So they take my phone and I just go buy a new one???
Doesnt seem effective at all.
Also, if im pulled over, into the glove box its goes.
Sorry officer youll need a warrant for that.
-
There are laws against distracted driving now, same as there are laws against murder.
People still do it...you will never stop it all...I would be very afraid of a government intent on eradicating all crime
Of course! Last thing I want is nore laws.
And I mention that numerous times throughout the thread.
Txting and driving is unique in that there is a cheap and effective way to stop it almost completely.
Murder/rape/drinking and driving etc dont have the possibility to be ended like this
-
Very interesting thread.
Before cell phones if we wanted to call someone, we had to stop at a phone booth. Following the law, if we want to call or text, we're suppose to stop to do so. My solution would be that all vehicles have a blocking device; that if the vehicle is in drive, there is no cell communications. Any in coming text or call, the blocking device would put out some form of chime alerting you; pull over and see what it about. With the electronics in today's vehicles; it wouldn't be very hard to do and at a minimal cost. Older vehicles would be grandfathered, until they were sold and as part of the safety inspection the blocking device would need to be installed to pass the inspection.
If the device was found to be tampered with; the police would pull the plates off the vehicle; as they can do now with an unsafe vehicle.
It would also be very easy for the police to check. On a routine stop ask the occupants for a cell number; if the call goes through, you just lost the plates and you're going home in a tow truck and the vehicle to a garage to be safety checked.
Dan.
I back this. I think its the most logical, effective solution.
Interesting point HH on the populations/areas. I dont think that was previously brought up?
Im rural so I could be just like Ernie and never get caught(or at least its highly unlikely I would). Also I love Ernies honesty
