I'm either going to fish Balsam or Cameron. My cottage is on Cameron so I would rather fish it but if I can take a few pike out of the system I'm up for that. So did anyone catch a pike ice fishing on Balsam? If so where? I know some guys fished South Bay last year but have not read a report of any pike being caught.
Fished LSC from the 11th to the 14th with only one muskie. Had a good time though and learned some along the way. First time out in my new boat so it was difficult not to have a good time. Had two on fishing the hump one on a board and the other on the long line. My father caught a 39" muskie in 15fow out from the Thames. We were going through a weed bed and just as the weeds were thinning out it hit. My fathers largest fish so he was happy and so was I. He just comes along for the ride really but he has fun. He was using a perch shad. I had also dropped my speed down to 3mph.
Stayed at the Belle River Yacht Club and it was great. Perfect for a bunch of guys going fishing. Rooms were clean and its right on the Belle River. If your doing the family thing though Deerbrook is better. I'm thinking of going back in Sept. or Oct.
I'm heading to LSC on Monday for a few days and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips. I have fished LSC in July and Aug. but never in June. Last year I was there the first week in July and had good luck straight out from the Ruscom River in about 17fow. Stoney Point was good as well. I'm thinking that it is a little deep for this time of year. I'm thinking more Pike Creek and Askins in more like 10-14 fow. I understand Anchor Bay is the best spot this time of year but I would rather stay on the Canadian side.
