yush_gta i'm staying at the Sunset resort. I'm not sure if i want to pay $400 for 4hrs of deep sea fishing. If I go fishing it's mostly catch and release.I'll contact the hotel for more info.
Thanks for your help.
Do you think it's worth fishing from the rocks in the pic?

Any rivers near by that might have tarpon or snook?
-
Heading to Montego Bay in April, does anyone know if i need a fishing license? I saw on the net there are snook and tarpon, does anyone know where i can go?

How much space do i leave between the wieght and the lure?Walleye opens on may 13 in montreal , ill let you know how i did.
thx to everyone for the info.
-
what would be the ideal weight between 15' to 25' of water?
-
I usually fish the montreal area mostly the st-lawrence river.Would split shot be ok or do i need the drop shot weights? I was thinking of using gulp minnows or leeches.
-
I would like to try drop shotting for walleye, but not sure what's the poper technique is.Do I shake it and stop or
do I drag it on the bottom?

You should post your problems with the smoke on the Quantum facebook page.

When fall comes I fish alot at night 9pm-3am,walleyes comes into shallow water to feed any where from 1'-5' of water.

I would get a new battery, not worth the hassle for a $100 if it was an Optima yes.
-
where should I send and how much will it cost??
What's the brand of the battery?Look for the distributor.
You'll have to find a place yourself,I'm from Montreal. The place charged me 10$.
-
you should go to a battery specialist to have it checked.I had the same problem with my optima red top, charged it for 3 days and still wouldn't hold the charge brought it in had them check it and now the battery is ok.

not sure about walking distance, but as a kid we used to fish britannia rapids and island park for smallies. this was on the ottawa side but i figured it was worth mentioning!
nothing over 2lbs hardly, but lots of numbers if you get right in and wade around. #3 spinners were the weapon of choice.
Thanks but I only have a Quebec permit, not worth getting an Ontario permit for 2-3hrs.
thanks anyways

I'm going to be in Gatineau for the weekend and would like to go fishing for 2-3 hrs.I will be at the Hilton near the casino,is there any place i can go fishing within walking distance?

Do it right the first time,Shimano,Daiwa or Abu Garcia for reels, for rods Fenwick,Shimano,St-Croix.
I have a Energy Pti-A 20 it weighs 10.5 oz pretty heavy, had to change the clutch bearing after 2 months, after 2 weeks had the same problem again.
If your on a budget look into Okuma reels.

Are the hooks I'm using ok or should I switch to circle hooks?
-
I've been using the Gamakatsu Finesse Wide-Gap Hook...25 pack. Aint cheap but seems to keep the fish on!
Are theses the same hooks used for drop-shot?
-
I would like to know what is the best hook for fishing wacky style.Right now I'm using a worm hook.

its nuthin to do with the reel. light braid on any spinning reel can have this problem. when ur using a reel designed for 6-10lb line and u put 10b braid, that has like 2 lb diameter, its gonna happen. i have had the same issue with a quantum reel. make sure the reel is not over spooled, and keep ur eyes on the spool while ur casting and fishing. using a light lure and tryin to fire a cast out, especially if theres some wind, will cause this problem. braid doesnt suffer the same fate as mono or flouro when it comes to line twist. u have to severely twist that line to hell to cause problems with it.
It could be the reel.I have been fishing 10lbs braid for 10 yrs now with these reels Okuma,Abu Garcia,Quantum and Shimano and only had a problem with line twist when I switch to braid.
With braid you have to be carefull when casting in the wind, closing the bail by hand also helps.
Montego Bay?
