Is there a place that cleans shimano reels in Ottawa?
-
-
i dont need it to be weedless, just wondering if it'll
work with the weight on th bottom of the swimbait
instead of the top.
-
What kind of jig heads are good for the umbrella rig?
Can I use regular round heads, can I use ewg weighted hooks?
-
Thanks for the input.

I'm in Montreal,bass opened on june 13.

Went fishing yesterday with a friend and caught some smallies from points and saddles 3' to 8' water but only a few,
biggest was 2.5 lbs.
I wanted to try the deep water off a hump or ledge 10' to 20' but my friend says its no good so we didn't.( his boat).
What do you guys think?? water is at 62F.

When I'm fishing tournaments I usually have 6-10 rods. Usual combos are spinnerbait, tube, crankbait, topwater, jerkbait, buzzbait, drop shot senko, flipping jig and weedless frog or mouse. If I'm fishing heavy lily pads, I'm throwing the frog, mouse or buzzbait deep into them, then tossing the popper or spook along the open edges. If there are deeper rocks, a craw coloured crank or tube. Submerged weeds I'm looking at a spinnerbait or jerkbait and isolated cover I'll flip the jig to. If the water is cold or they don't want to bite, might need to slow it down.
Good luck!
I only have 5 rods....i guess i have to go get some more... Thanks everyone for there input.

i know the area and have a few spots but i usually fish these spots for bass in the fall.Bass opens june 13, tourney is the 21st so
with work, wife and kids I only have 3-4 days of pre-fish.
-
I've just entered my first bass tournament at the end of june on the st lawrence in montreal, because of the cold temperature the bass might still be spawning or close to post spawn.
I'm going to be throwing tubes, crank baits and spinnerbaits for smallmouth.
Is there something else i should try?
What depths should i be fishing?
thanks for the help.

X2! The spool survived less then 50 casts before i tore it off out of anger. Made a promise to myself not to cheat on my PP last year, as shes always been so good to me. But it always seems like whenever i buy a new reel, i want to try a new kind of line on it... Wasted a lot of $$$ that way!
Wow, I guess i'll stick with PP.

How much more are we talking about? $5-$10? Lots of retailers will even ship up here for nothing.
The sites i've checked shipping is between $15-$30 usd.

You gotta pay to play.
yes.but i'm not going to break the bank to play.
-
You can order it from pretty much anywhere.
Yes i could, but it will cost more. Daiwa in 30lbs is 23$ at Lebaron.
-
like the braid but bleeds way too much.
much prefer SX1 and FX2.
We don't have sunline in quebec
-
It's a good braid. Just don't go to small. As the line is thinner. What techniques you planning on covering with that reel?
I'll be casting mostly tubes,crank baits .
-
Anyone using this braid? Think about getting 30lbs for my baitcast.
-
Thanks everyone for the info. But i won't be coming to Ottawa my gf wants to go to quebec city instead.
-
You can walk along the bike path behind the Parliament buildings and fish from shore........your Quebec permit will be sufficient.!!
Smallmouth can also be caught behind the Museum of civilization. There is also a bike path you can walk along.......
Good luck
Thanks,any LM in the river?
-
They are in the water.
DUH??
-
ok for the permit, any place i can fish for bass?
-
I'm going to be by foot.
-
I'm coming to Ottawa in 2 weeks for the weekend, Is there a place I can fish for bass SM or LM.
Do i need an Ontario permit or my Quebec permit is ok??
-
The reason i'm lookin for shore spots is because i can't swim.I'll contact the hotel for more info.
