  1. Sorry to hear of your luck. I was in another big box store (won't use the name) over Xmas & i can say that their prices R not always the best. I have been able to get good deals in alot of our smaller tackle shops. I prefer places like Fishing World, Grimsby Tackle, Erie tracker for their friendly, helpful service. No I don't work for them! HA HA

  2. Did mine at CTC in Welland Dec 27. It took a clerk & 2 supervisors 15 minutes to figure out the new machine. Now I have to carry my outdoors card & more paperwork. Does that mean I'll also have to carry more papers for small game hunting, bear, deer, moose. What was wrong with putting a sticker on my out doors card? Too simple I guess?? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

  3. Hi folks

I'm back after a long time away. I was working in a remote area of northern Ontario since last March & was out of touch due to either poor or no internet service. I returned in late October & have been lurking for a while. Same great board with the very informative articles. Decided to start posting again after viewing the post about the GTG in late January on Nipissing. Long story short my home is in Fonthill (near St. Catharine) now working in Sudbury. I would appreciate if some members from Sudbury could email me ([email protected]) to help with ice fishing spots near Sudbury. I've fished open water up near Gogama but never been in Sudbury during the winter. Your assistance is much appreciated. Just picked up my new ATV, got the auger tuned up, bought a new Mr. Buddy heater, doing some final touches on my hut. I'm ready to go!! Another request. I forgot my password, got a new 15 digit password thru email. How do change it to another to my personal password. Thanx for your help. Keep the articles coming.

  4. I love your enthusiasm What a shack!! I built a 5x10' hut 4 years ago with skis similar to yours. I covered the bottom of the skis with galvanized steel studs which r 6" wide. Same material used during steel stud framing of a commercial building. U can purchase these at Patene building supplies for about $30.00. Good luck keep us updated!!

  5. I recently removed the head, piston, cylinder from my Polaris ATV. Found the cylinder to be scored & the piston & rings well worn. I had the cylinder machined & ordered a new piston & rings & new head gasket. I'm now ready to re install the new parts. I'm told it's very important to torque the bolts on the head to the proper spec. Does any here know what I should torque the bolts? Or could u suggest where I may find this info. It's a 1996 Polaris 400cc. Thanx for your help.

  6. Roy & Ohio Fisherman Talking about the Mitchell 300 & 301 brings back lots of happy memories. I still have a 301 which unfortunately I only use as a spare, but still works great. I gues we're giving away our age!! I remember buying a 301 (I'm left handed) in Sears for $16.00 in the mid 1960s. What a work horse!!

  7. Thanx Spiel but My daughter already has it fixed. She went into a local shop (Windsor) - the guy just cut off the rod at the second guide & glued on a new tip guide all in 5 minutes or less. My grandson is now good to go!! It's an inexpensive rod for a beginner. He is 9 years old. He loves the rod cause it was an Easter present from grandpa!!

  8. We had an unfortunate incident - my grandson closed the car door on a rod tip, which broke off 5" of the tip section. I would like to repair it for him. I'm sure there are different size guides to buy? What type of adhesive do I use? Should I wrap it in the thread I see on other guides? Should I apply a coat of varnish after wrapping the thread? Any suggestions & help is appreciated. Thanx folks

  9. Thanx for your help guys - I'll probably just keep it & use it as it is. I don't want to compromise an already nice rod. I'm going to check out some of the sites in regard to rod building. Maybe I'll start a new hobby this winter!! Can u advise any sites that would be beneficial to search? Thanx

  10. I have aquestion for the rod builders on this site. I have a GLoomis Imx 7' rod, model #SR642-2, line wt 4-8lb, lure wt 1/16 - 5/16. I would like to reduce it to a 6' rod, I feel the 7' is just a little too long. Would I have to cut 6" from the butt end & 6" from the tip, reposition the guides etc. - or should I leave it alone & buy another in the 6' length?? Thanx for your help

  11. I forgot to give further instructions. Make sure u roughen up the rivet areas with a wire brush to give the JB weld a rough surface to bond. I used my 1/2" electric drill with a stiff wire brush attachment to remove old paint, & roughen up the aluminum a bit. Allow the JB weld to cure overnight. Good luck
