  1. There are some fantastic operators out there and then there are some that can ruin a fishing trip. Many guys like myself can't afford to get away more than once or twice a year and to end up booked with an outfit that doesn't provide you with a good experience can be a real bummer. It is understood that fishing is fishing and the fish don't always bite but when you book a trip what you should be able to expect is a professional operator, clean, serviced accomodations that are in reasonably good shape and reasonable help and opportunity to catch fish. From what I have read in the past about this outfit, this isn't the case. "retarded" might be a little harsh though!

Agreed, I also don't usually have too much extra cash for "special" trips, so when I do them...I definitely want to be with someone that makes the experience enjoyable. It isn't always about numbers of fish, but, at least provide decent customer service. Anyways, thanks again guys!!!!!

  2. Just a quick thanks to members who have posted about this operation...almost made the mistake of booking a weekend with them. Then I read some of the horror stories that guys have posted in the past...yikes...guess that would be why they still have openings at fairly short notice.

  3. thanks for the info. thats good to know. i didnt think it would be a problem fishing in a conservation area though. is it closed in the winter or something??

Haven't contacted anyone in authority yet, but, drove by there yesterday and there were at least four parties ice fishing...the gates are closed and you are definitely fishing at your own risk, and, more than likely trespassing. If you are concerned, try getting in contact with someone at long point conservation areas.

  4. When I'm on the road I'm usually listening to my Sirius satellite radio.

    Channels 21 or 22. B)

Or my cd player is most likely loaded with Green Day disks. entertain005.gif

Yeah, that's one I forgot....American Idiot is probably the best album of the last decade!!

  5. Oh, man...this is priceless already...I as well don't have to sneak out, I've said it here before the little lady actually joins me for most of my fishing trips!! To anyone that loves fishing, make darn sure your future wife is okay with you doing it, I wouldn't sacrifice my love of fishing for anyone...it is just to much a part of who and what I am!

  6. I would confront the guy and tell him exactly what you just said.

I don't think he would have a problem with that.

BINGO!!! If that doesn't work, and it is bothering you that much, get the police involved. Even though the guy IS a fellow fisherman, doesn't give him the right to trespass...try the nice way first!

  7. Sounds like it is worth a try for next years camping...thanks for the heads up. Someone said a buck a pack, pricey compared to others, but, we don't hesitate to pay more than that for a Timmies. Considering pretty much all the instants I have ever taken camping taste pretty much like.........I will give it a shot.

  8. Now, that was an excellent post!!! Very many similiarities to myself growing up. I remember biking to Hiway market in Kitchener, from Waterloo, as a young teenager with my buddy just to check out the fishing tackle. He and I haven't had any contact in years, he turned away from fishing...I grew to love it even more! Thanks, for a great read!

  9. Good to hear!! I have never personally had a problem with CTC, be it returns or rain checks, and when it comes to stock for their weekly flyers I don't usually have a problem finding things (now Zellers...don't get me started). Enjoy the ice shelter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. No tips from anyone else? What does everyone else put on their reels on the ice?

Would be nice to hear from some of the ice fishing regulars on this one....going for the first time since I was a kid tomorrow...already have the ice line, but, curious as to what others think.

  11. Makes me think of a comment a co-worker said the other day. She didn't see any kids playing outside during the Christmas holidays...it's said how many kids these days are sucked into a videoscreen (as I sit here typing this looking at one, lol).

Yes, teach your kids or nephews or nieces to fish or hunt...can't wait until Sunday, taking the three boys ice fishing for the first time. Don't force it on them, but, give them the option...you might end up with a fishing buddy for life!!!!!
