  1. I have a box full of old cameras from 3 Leica's that were my wife's Grand Fathers to an old 60's era Nikon. I have to see what I have there. The problem is they made 100's of thousands of cameras a year maybe more.

camera's may or not be worth a lot but the hipsters love the old lenses that can be adapted to modern digital cameras. especially leica glass. that box may be worth checking and comparing on ebay. myself, i'm on the lookout for a couple of russian lenses, the jupiter-9 85mm and helios 44-2 58mm

  2. double uni should be no problem. i double uni 50lb braid to 50lb seaguar fluoro all the time for pike. you just needs less wraps on fluoro (maybe 5) than the braid (maybe 8 or 9) and lube it good. on the business end, any knot will do or a [erfection loop to a small snap.

..and this is a perfection loop with 150 lb seaguar. this one takes some patience LOL

  3. Unfortunately for those of us that use our musky baits there seams to be a large group growing of "collectors" that pay outrageous prices for rare colors or sizes of lures and in turn the market value climbs fast on all other baits from that bait maker

People are paying $100 USD for second hand lures the retail for $35 USD because there were only 20 that were made that color

Then unfortunalty a lot of these lures get hung in man caves and never get used

And guys like me can't afford the inflated sevens hand prices so I don't get the chance to try these interesting baits

there's a lot of great custom baitmakers for sure and a lot are based on mass produced baits. That 300 dollar barfighter is really a suick with lipstick.

just remember, people have caught thousands of fish on jakes, believers, bucktails and suicks over the years and will continue to do so. fads will come and go but you learn the where when & how of those 4 intimately and you will have just as much success if not more.

  4. Time to find a Torrent.

you can find it on genesis or exodus or whatever the current one is

i enjoyed seasons 1 and 3, 2 sucked with season one still being the best one. this one seems to be getting away from the whole alone thing. see how it goes.

  5. got a new lens last night (14mm f2.5 [28mm 35mm equivalent]) and couldn't wait to give it a shot so i snapped this pic on my way to work this morning. i'll make sure to post some more interesting pics.

the best part about this system/lens is the size. very easy to tote around with you.

  6. If you zoom in the detail is better. These charts are based off the paper charts you can buy. Whatever detail is on them, is on these. Don't blame Navionics.

Let's face it, Gbay is a huge body of water and to get it all charted is a tall order. I hope you have several lifetimes to autochart even that 'small' section. Autochart and the like is great for charting tiny puddles or details about spots that you like to fish.

  7. yes you should be able to get that separately. propably not worth it and the float will fail a short time later anyway. get some orings to seal it up. with a 5 gal tank just lifting it an eyeballing the weight should tell you how much fuel you have.

  8. Let us know what you think of the samyang/rokinon 12mm. Considering the micro 4/3 version of it (24mm equivalent).

One of the other options for me is the Olympus 12mm prime but it's more than twice the cost of the samyang/rokinon. I figure for the intended purpose (landscape) where you'll be shooting at infinite focus a lot of the time anyway, the lack of auto focus is a very minor inconvenience and not worth 2x the cost.

The trend has certainly been to ultra wide angles for landscapes last few years but it hasn't always been that way. Even a 35mm or nifty 50, whatever equivalent that is in your particular crop sensor will produce stunning shots. The real key, in mu opinion, to a good landscape lense is great sharpness corner to corner even with the aperture wide open.

  9. You had me hiring you for a small amount paid to you for expenses on the odd weekends we would not be there..........however, no WiFi or cell service available...... but you do have a great idea......... :)

I have no such WiFi or cell requiRemer but do require a dock I can tie my boat up t.... monitor

  10. Just install some turbines and a waterfall on your property lol

I seem to be one of the few not getting nailed on hydro(thankfully)

We have 10 people in the house, high school age kids that don't understand why it shouldn't take an hour to shower, and our bill is still only around $120-140/month

Are you hooked into Manitoba's power grid? LOL

Doesn't make sense unless you have everything running on gas.
