  1. Lol I have no problem saying no.

I've only owned my truck for a few weeks and found a need to remove the tonneau and load it up above the roof line a couple of times for my own personal use - two minutes to pop it off and two to put it back on and I can do it solo - but if you guys don't then a cap makes sense. I kind of like the idea of the softtopper for me but not sure how durable the canvas would be.

  2. There would have to be a lot of infrastructure put in and/or the range on these things improved greatly before they are feasible in a country as big as ours. It's one thing for city dwellers commuting to work and getting groceries but completely different in a long distance runner 4x4.

I like the idea on paper but in practise I think we are a long ways off. Norway is I am guessing a fraction the size of ontario

  3. Raf, let us know how you like the new truck! I still drive a diesel, but it's definitely never going to have a tow hitch, lol.

barring a lemon, i think i am gonna love it. 2017 is the 2nd year for the diesel in the colorado / canyon twins and 3rd year of this generation. the 2.8 is far from a new motor -- used extensively overseas. what is new is all the emissions crap for the north american market.. that's about my only worry and mainly the egr. there's already an aftermarket that allows these parts to fall off the truck but i like my warranty too.

no real issues reported by owners so far that i've been able to find but lets see in 5-6 years.

  4. 20 years ago was 20 years ago, technology & infrastructure progresses

picked up my new colorado diesel today and achieved 7.7l / 100 (that's a little over 30 US mpg) on the 150km drive from the dealer. it's only going to get better as the motor gets broken in. i wouldn't make a habit of pulling a 5000lb horse trailer with it -- eventhough it's rated for 7600lbs -- that's what full size trucks are for. but it will handle a moderate load just fine.

i hear GM will be putting an oil burner in the silverado/sierra 1500 in the next couple of years, i think it will sell well, like the ram eco diesel.

  5. Well I crossed the floor from Chrysler to GM. Got a Colorado diesel. With the current 0% + factory incentives it was tough to justify used.

The diesel shows as 8.2 liters per 100 and guys on the forums frequently report better. I'll take that in a truck with a tow rating of 7200 lbs

  6.

So a 8 year payback on an Eco Diesel and a 12 year payback on a Cummins......

i didn't do the math on the eco diesel

on the colarado 3.6 gasser vs colorado 2.8 diesel it worked out to a little over 4 years payback on the diesel upgrade based on 30k kms / year. assuming diesel price = gas price and diesel maintenance = gasser maintenance

  7. Driving 24,000 KM per year that would be around $12,166.00 of Tim coffee buying 2 cups a day, not factoring in inflation. They say a person that buys some coffee and snacks or 10 bucks a day spends over $100,000.00 in ones working years, if they retire after 30 years, not factoring in inflation.

Yes we can 2 dollar a day ourselves to death. I don't disagree Terry, I just don't want to add it all up as I go through life. I just can't stress over a few bucks a week for fuel driving as little as I do now, which yes adds up of course.

i did the math recently comparing a diesel vs gasser truck

    assuming:

    30k per year driving

    3l/100 difference between vehicles

    fuel at $1/liter

= $900 in fuel costs per year savings.

propably doesn't matter to someone driving <10k a year but it adds up quick when you drive a lot.

  8. fisherman has the eco diesel right? i would believe sub 9l/100km numbers on that truck

i'm calling Bull on whoever has the v8 silverado and getting 25 us mpg tho!!

the full sizes are a bit big for us but i am thinking about the baby duramax 2.8l diesel colorado/canyon twins.

  9. Call the park office, they would be able to tell you that. I doubt it though as there is absolutely nothing listed online and the park website says nothing about HP restrictions on stormy and considering they maintain a pretty nice launch there you'd think it would say something.

the restrictions can be found here: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/070347#BK39

    specifically:

    Restoule PP

(power boats allowed in) All waters, except Stormy Lake, Clear Lake and on Restoule River if the boat has an engine rating not exceeding 10 horsepower from May 1 to Thanksgiving Monday and not exceeding 40 horsepower from the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving to April 30 of the following year

i'd call the park and as anyway.
