  1. I've seen deer and just about everything else in the Beach area of Toronto. While walking my dog in the "Quarry" at VP and Gerrard we stumbled upon a dead dear in long grass near the train tracks. My dog started to freak out and the deer jumped up and two others came outta nowhere headed for the tracks. My dog and I almost had heart attacks. One morning I pulled into Ted Reeve Arena at 5:15 and 5 deer ran off to the same tracks.
  2. Great report and beautiful pics. I know this lake and how tempermental she can be. The water is always low at this time of year and this year is lower than usual. If anybody is interested, we have a websight...baptistelake.org...lots of useful info. If you check the photos you'll see a musky that choked on a walleye. Oh yeah, by the way... we are fished out...there are no more fish here, if you want to actually catch fish you should try some other lake... but not Elephant or Benoirs
  3. Seriously, the bottom half of the page...small story about unknown angler and two big pics. coming to a drive-in near you THE PIKE THAT WOULDN'T DIE. (or go away).
  4. On the back page of the Orillia Packet and Times on Saturday there was a very familiar story about a guy catching a giant pike...last week. It happened on (insert lake here) in this case Rainy Lake. The story was accompanied by two photos, one where a huge pike is biting a slightly less huge pike and another where the angler is holding the huge pike in the boat. Last Week...Rainy Lake...weird. I think I had a dream about this. It all seemed so eeirily familiar.
  5. Keram, I'm with Ranger for technique. I don't know how to fish, but I've been catching fish at Baptiste all my life. Do you have a boat and what are you targeting? Panfish are everywhere but walleye, laketrout and others are pretty site specific. You can drive to High Falls for a great shore adventure or boat up to Elephant Lk with great selection along the way. Good Luck and remember the camera.
  6. I took the fellas to Transformers at the drive-in last night. I apparently missed an integral plot twist while in the popcorn line up. My boys think it would be a waste of time for anybody else to apply for Oscar consideration since Transformers "TOTALLY ROCKS". There were some special effects which are not in the original Fellini version...Two thumbs up from Nathan and Evan.
  7. Thanks for the link and the advice. I'm getting a replacement card for $9.91, not too bad I guess. I only get out once in while and usually on short notice, so I thought I was smart to have everything together...I think I'll need a new plan. I'll be picking up cheap replacements this week. Thanks again for the quick replies.
  8. I went to take my sons fishing this morning and when we removed our tuneau cover we found our fishing gear had been stolen. Nothing else, just the rods and tackle box...my $500. boat left intact. We went for icecream instead. This afternoon I realized my OutDoor card was in the tackle box. Any idea about what I should do?...Holiday Mondays are hard for contacting government people because the smart ones are out fishing. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  9. I threw my infamous blue 'speedboat' on my trailer and brought it to the dump at Baptiste...Left it right where they told me to. When I came back with more junk 20 mins. later it was gone. If anybody loses a prop near Bancroft, disreguard the numbers on the side of that blue submarine.
  10. Was Lake Wilcox outfitted with an underwater oxygen generator? I seem to recall something...I pass Wilcox and Bond every day and wonder about the the possibilities.
  11. If you are fishing the other coast I highly recommend Terry Goy in Gilford. He's the Blue Huts at the end of Gilford Rd.
