  1. HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM WHEN ON A BUDGET:

    1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used work boots, size 14-16 - or larger.

    2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans, a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines.

    3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines.

    4. Leave a note on your door that reads: 'Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls - they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't think Killer took part in it, but it was hard to tell from all the blood.

P.S. - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.'

    INSTALLATION COMPLETE!!!!

Thanks for using the Redneck Security Company

LOL! I used to live in Arkansas, so you're not far from the truth right there!

  2. Change the subject? I'm just using the same argument back at you guys.

Are your lives really that dreary that you have to jump on new members backs?

Maybe you should edit your post to the correct story and apologize.

  3. Ever hear of a cell phone? How about calling someone to come with you?

    Wait a second....

I didn't tell you when I inhaled and exhaled...... HOW AM I STILL ALIVE... WHAT IS GOING ON....

He quoted your post...which said "myself" thus indicating you are by YOURSELF!

Nothing in your post states you are fishing with someone else...

Either way, if MNR saw you cast a rod, then pick up another rod and cast...its 100% ILLEGAL!

Know your facts before you try to change the subject and sound really ignorant.....

  4. Ya, I have insurance so no worries there... just sucks at the timing. Have a September fishing trip planned and losing the boat now puts a dent in the plans. Need to rethink the trip.

That must suck! If I had a boat I'd offer to take you out! hahaha....

My free boat plans fell through...hopefully I can find a good deal while I'm up in Parry Sound!

  5. imagejpeg0e.jpg

Here is a picture of the first pike I have ever caught!

I have zero measurements/weight but its nothing to be ashamed of!

I look forward to catching some more of these come September when I hit up Parry Sound again!

Mini-report : I fished a local pond this morning...zero bites/zero fish! I was only out for about 2 hours and I was fishing from shore. I can't wait to get back up north and hopefully get my boat! I got my boaters card today, but I still wont have to register or license my boat!

I can barely contain myself! :D

  6. If I'm paddling a motorboat while the motor is off, am I still required to have an operator competency card?

Yes. As long as there is a motor on board, it will be considered a powered vessel and the requirements will apply.

Electric is a form of power so yes you need your card.

That's what I figured. Thanks for the info!

  7. "Boat Licence Number

A pleasure craft licence is the set of identification numbers displayed on a boat. All pleasure craft powered by an engine 10 horsepower (7.5 kW) or more must be licensed, unless they are registered."

I wont need to get a license for the boat, since the motor will be under 10 HP.

    "Boat Registration

Every vessel other than pleasure craft must be registered."

I wont need to register the boat because its a pleasure craft.

I guess my only real question is does a trolling motor count as a motor?.....Since its not man powered I guess it would be? Maybe I'll have to call someone, I know if I call a boating exam place they will tell me anything to get the cash out of my bank!

Again, I'm only asking these questions because I am really new to boating! (never owned one...I can count how many times I've been in a boat on my hands...)

  8. With all the advertising regarding Boating Operators cards that are required for everyone by 15 Sep 09, regardless of age or boat size or motor size, you would think you might have picked up on that by now.

When do I need to get a card?

The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations require operators of pleasure craft fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes to have proof of competency on board at all times. These requirements are being phased in over ten years (see table).

http://www.tc.gc.ca/marinesafety/debs/obs/...man_powered.htm <--- if there is NO motor there is no need to have a card.

Does an electric trolling motor count as a motor? I guess it does have the word motor in it...

  9. With all the advertising regarding Boating Operators cards that are required for everyone by 15 Sep 09, regardless of age or boat size or motor size, you would think you might have picked up on that by now.

Haven't seen any advertising, thus why I asked the question.

What about registration? I know I don't have to license it since it won't have a motor.

  10. Havent been there in years but the last time I was there the weeds were super thick .. I had a canoe so finding pockets in the weeds was easier .. not sure how the shore fishing would be but worth a shot .. also have caught crappie, pike (snot rockets) , and tons of sunfish .. the welland river has tons of cats and carp .. the odd bass and crappie to be had also

    Thank you for the advice!

Thats the same issue I run into fishing the Niagara River from the shore in Fort Erie, just too many weeds...can't really make a decent attempt without a canoe or boat!
