i caught a nice Whtiefish(coregone)(DU BLANC) today and to my surprize it had the Y bone !

how do you guys fix this fish?

Awesome report! I love checking out the fish's stomach to see what they've been munching on. Gotta say Im pretty surprised by that fish's content. Hard to believe it was hungry for your lure too.

 

When I was in Quebec fishing for lakers last spring the bite was really slow. When we opened the stomachs of the ones we caught, they were absolutely jammed with fly larvae. I think they were black fly, from what I understand black fly larva hatch on bottom then float to the surface in a small air bubble? can anyone confirm or deny this?

your absolutly right on this. see this happen all the time on this small speck lake we fish!

One of the worst things you can leave on the ice or softwater is Cigarette Butts ...

 

Its dirty and a lack of respect for the enviroment .

this is one of the best exemples.... a litle butt seems harmless BUT. is the worst thing you could do!

it takes HOW many years for ONE SINGLE cigarette BUTT to biodegrate???

i was jigging once and my last tip-up went down ... While running i threw my scooper.... SWISH!! right into one of my holes...

had to de-ice the holes with a tim horton"S cup the rest of the day!

Great report Amigos. Are you fellas going to be out this week? Have two days planned for big pike and smallies on that lake with Anthony and a few freinds. Was thinking of starting at Mud Bay and try out a few other locations. How deep are you finding the smallies?

tip-up.

i suggest you hit the place where you were catching the pike late in the falls...

iv found out that pike are territorial and will not move from there last spot in LATE falls.

we were RIGHT over a salad bar mixed with some angel hair weed bed. put the minnow right above the bed not IN!

the smallies were @ the weed lines IN 20 - 25 FOW.

its the first time we fished this lake early like this last year the samllies were in 30 - 40 FOW. off a rocky point drop off.

im thinking they go deeper as the ice fishing goes.

hope you gets some on the jigging rods. i jigged all day without anything. BIG DEAD SHINNERS was the key.

give them time to swallow the bait and you will have success.!

your a better jigger than me so tell me what happens after your outting. id love to get some info off of you.

IE: what was working what dept and what not. i know its diff. from lake to lake but still good to know!
