They must not be listening about defense.  Two leaf players going for the same guy on what amounted to a two on one for the winning goal. Was that Gardiner again?.

Nylander was at fault he went for the guy carrying the puck.

These are young guys in a super fast game. Look at comparable young teams...Edmonton, Arizona, Carolina...none of them are burning up the league. That ability to know which impulses and instincts to trust and which to shun is a learned thing...it's called maturity.

As Babcock has said these are good games they are playing....tight low scoring games leading into the third. The type of game they had trouble winning earlier Insert other media and the type of game they will have to win to advance in the playoffs. I'm not pushing the panic button.

Leafs are looking lackluster of late and fading in the standings. It's time to right the ship boys!

The thing is that they are not fading in the standings...and pretty well have a lock on third in their division. Why, because the top three teams of each division automatically make the playoffs...AND...the teams below them in their own division SUCK. If the Leafs get a little bit better than one point per night they would have 96 points. Heck they can probably get away with one point per night because which of these following teams will hit 90 points? Buffalo, Ottawa, Habs, Panthers, or Wings? Probably none of them. That is why predictions are already 95% that the leafs make the playoffs and will be playing Boston.

Now this has been apparent for some time, so what if Babcock knowing this is using the remaining schedule as a giant practice. Points are nice but not necessary. Get this young impulsive team under his thumb and beat defense into them until they bleed. Otherwise what do you have? You have a team like the Jays of the last few years with a potent offense but that doesn't win you everything. This keeps contract extensions down in price also. Ditto Matthew's lesser ice time.

Finally, Babcock can then turn the switch late in the season into a more aggressive playoff mode, let them off the leash and he now has the bonus that the defensive lessons were internalized. In the end it doesn't really matter how you did in the regular season...ie Habs and Capitals last few seasons, it's how you do in the playofs....so you can't judge Babcock until after the season is over. Getting into the second round would be a success.

    Too funny! Hahahaha

If you tried to turn back into the fold of the Hab's fan base they would kick you in the nuts and then step on your hands with their white skates.  :)  See the difference in fan bases? As pathetic a fan that a true leaf fan has been over the last 50 years they are good willed and loyal. Hab fans are ALWAYS vindictive and shrill!

Yeah scabs fans are almost as bad as laffites.

If there were as many Hab fans as Leaf fans on this thread you would be going OUT OF YOUR MIND. The Leafs fans here adore you like a child with boundless hope not seeing the disaster before him. We know the Sens are a quaint off beat regional team on it's last breath along with the Coyotes. Whatever they do to you Matt, we will take you back!!! <3

So how do you classify  laffs fans who boo their team, wear paper bags on their heads, throw jerseys on the ice, throw waffles on the ice and assault female fans from opposing teams, in their own rink

Most Hab fans I know back then watched the Leafs simply to watch them lose. It was more important to them that the Leafs lost then the Habs won. So I'm sure what you had was Habs fans impersonating Leaf fans doing all of those things. On second thought the obvious clandestine Hab behaviour is trying to beat up females from opposing teams. A Hab fan never gets into a fight unless they know they can win. :)

Why is Ottawa so despised by many and loved by few? It's only 1 of the few Canadian teams.

Any older Leafs fan only has one Canadian team to hate, correction...only one fan base to hate. Habs fans!!! Vancouver fans can chirp but it's not malicious, they never won the cup, Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg have been many years in purgatory. Ottawa...well leaf fans only have happy playoff memories with Ottawa.

But a Hab fan is a scum sucking trilobite most of which at one time jumped onto the Hab bandwagon. Thus they are constantly trying to prove how smart they are but that's got nothing to do with what a fan is. There is no loyalty to a Hab fan. Have you noticed the utter silence this year from Hab fans? When their team loses badly they have only exhibit two behaviours: turtling or bandwagon jumping. They are a whinny selfish lot much like a baby with colic except a colicy baby has an excuse.

I love this season it is like a season without mosquitoes!!! Bergevin Forever, Berg-evin FOR EVERRR!!! :)

You and the Donald mocking science.

It's an an El Nina year (cooler) yet Nov was the 4th warmest on record in the last 180 years. All general indications are that the world temp continues to go up including recent large areas of bleaching on several coral reefs and slow but steady rising ocean levels.

  8. Give Mrs. Harper a break, at least she expressed an original opinion. It was a magnificent animal. While legal, we are destroying our earth and the loss of the biggest beasts is symbolic of the systematic destruction of every natural thing on this earth. I shake my head at seeing that pic also, as I do pics of dozens of dead fish in a cooler. It may be legal but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

While there is opening of off topic political discussion what say you about these great hunters eh? :) They want to kill elephants again!

  9. In grade 7 there was a farm boy who had huge pipes. Every lunch it was all about using his strength to to get me to the ground and then pin me. You'd call it bullying now, and it was. Nobody ever stopped it or did anything.

20 years later at a high school reunion I learn he murdered his wife and stuffed her in the freezer and that's where they found her. He's in jail for life.

A reunion friend is into researching family trees so we search and find a pic of her tombstone online....that creeped me right out!!

  10. ...and what about the Habs? As of last night:
-Price-3.56 GAA with a .885 S% puts him at the bottom of the pack for starter goalies.
-Habs last in division & only 3 other teams lower in the league
    -26th on the powerplay
-31st out 31 teams for goals with 1.5 goals per game
-one player with 2 goals & only 7 other players with 1 goal.

    The Habnots :)

  11. The laffs barely squeak out a win against the lowly scabs and you guys are cheery about it. The Sens dominate 2 game for 2 wins and a 12-1 goal differential. That is the difference between a team with depth skill and a team with youthful enthusiasm and no defense and mediocre goal tending.

It's no fluke the Sens went to double overtime against the Stanley Cup Champions in the conference finals last year and they are hungry.

They sit tied in the Atlantic and did it without their top guy who is arguably the best player on the planet.

They sit without a regulation loss and against McDavid and the high flying oilers.

Phaneuf said Matt, time to map out the parade route!!

I thought global cooling and a ice age killed off the dinos.

I guess I should of been more politically correct and said "climate change"........LOL......more nonsense then a man should be allowed to read.... :)

    Mocking science are we?

Here is a short little video on the earth's mass extinction events.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yINoJNA1SGs

The video talks about how life dies within water bodies when oxygenation can't occur. That is something that all good fishermen understand.

Most mass extinction events were caused by warming except that last "meteor" one where the dust kicked up by the impact caused global cooling. That would be two different types of extinctions based on opposite temperature extremes. If further explanation is needed just ask. :)
