I'd bet that is what a lot of "parents" did.

I agree, a bunch of whining, entitled pussies.

A few parents from my grandaughter's class were keeping their kids indoors. We still had over 70 kids at our door. A whole bunch shouting "trick or treat, and I've been good Santa" Must have something to do with my jovial image

Bass eggs aren't sticky.  They lay them in a nest, and the male bass protects them until they hatch.  I think it's unlikely that a heron could introduce bass to a pond.  It's much more likely that baby bass were introduced with the bluegills when they were sotcked, as they can look very similar as fry and live in similar habitats.

The stocking was done 30 years ago, the bass only started appearing 2 years ago. To date we have found 3. There are no bodies of water to migrate from.

  3. Heron wades through the shallows, through a spawn bed, gets eggs attached to legs, flies to another body of water in search of food, shakes off a few eggs.   At the farm, the only fish stocked were bluegills and bullhead, yet 2 years ago we started finding largemouth. Herons visit regularly.

Do you guys think small town Ontario is still hardest hit per capita versus city centers?

My wife and I love Road tripping and stopping through a lot of smaller  towns in around southern Ontario. It feels to me like there’s some pretty heavy down and out people whether it’s drug use or not in places such as Owensound Midland Collingwood etc. And eastern Ontario such as   Peterborough And Perth.

It almost seems to me like they’re more visible in the small towns that in the cities.  That being said I don’t go into the GTA too often. I’m not sure what the core looks like.

The reason I’m asking, is because I’m wondering if there’s a correlation with the availability of good work.  If the area is economically depressed, so too are the people?   We often consider moving places when we retire and we’ve crossed off an awful lot of them. Just too rough ( I hope I don’t sound like an uppity dick)

There is definitely a correlation between weakened economics, lack of opportunity and substance abuse.

Is it just me or is there a run on new members asking for lake info in their first post?? Lol Three years ago they would have been ROASTED!! ?

A lot of the guys doing the roasting have kinda left.

  6. Substance abuse is an epidemic throughout Ontario. And it will get worse. Lack of enforcement, political will, moral conscience says it all. The youth of much of our modern society no longer have  the promise of a bright future where every dream was possible. We've given most of our industry and manufacturing to the third world while creating unrealistic financial goals for the next generation, crippling debt outrageous inflation. Many born since the 80's see no hope or promise for the future and wait for the socialized silver spoon to look after them.

  7. I love my veggies. Lord knows  we grow a mountain every year at the farm.  Matless burgers and sausage,etc...  are nothing more than a chemical cesspool.  Historically, every overprocessed/ chemically manipulated food product has bee proven to be bad for your health. Or have we all forgotten the evils of MSG, hydrogenation, cyclamates, etc.....

I found that one does not need to be present for the whole smoking process. Cured some salmon treats Sunday afternoon.  Woke up at 2 am Monday . Pulled fish out of cure, rinsed, racked and air dried with a small fan til 4 am ,where I awoke again for my fishing day. Plugged in the smoker at 4:10 am,tossed in the pan full of chips, rack in same time. Return home 10:30 am,add another pan of chips. Finished off at 1 pm.

    Smoking fish while fishing.:good:

You don't think the old folks, back in the day, stood around watching the smoker all day, did you???   They had work and chores to do while the smokehut did it's thing.

  9. Nobody really expects what age and disease will do to many of us. All I can say is keep fighting. I know its not easy, But what's the alternative???  I'm not into sitting back and waiting for death to win. No matter how many times you fall, fight back. There's still lots of life to enjoy.

One of the many things I do to terrorize these guys is that I tell them I will get me on the phone. Put the phone next to the TV and turn up the sound. Wait 10 minutes and pick up the phone. Usually they have hung up by then and if they are still there I tell them John isn't home. They will put you on the do not call list.

For the last few weeks I am getting robo calls in Chinese. They call 4 times a day. I put the number on the "reject call" list but that doesn't seem to work, always a different number and exact same message, I think. My Chinese is rusty.

A number of the scammers are now displaying fake area codes to block tracking efforts, or using a random number generator

I have done the same thing with the duct cleaner call centres and my duck call.   Its pretty funny when they try to explain that they don't mean "ducks' they mean "ducts" while I am yelling at my wife to keep them quiet while I am trying to talk to someone about getting them cleaned.

I do not have ducks. I have camel. Do you clean camel. Or I trade you camel for ducks??   (Always done in my best pidgie Eengleesh) LOL
