  1. The only Ranger that gets 4x4 is the FX4 correct? I'm not a Ford fan, but the Ranger has been updated recently.

My buddy here at work has a 4x4 ranger... and I dont think it has FX4 on the side ? Ill go check haha

Ive gotten his input, but he's a little biased being as he is DIE hard ford.

I want some honest input ! haha

  2. New to the sport myself... so Ill try and give my 2 cents.

A baitcaster has more torque than a spinning reel to help pull those fish out of the weeds. They also help with line spin as they are levelwind. Plus I think they are built a little heavier to help with the bigger fish.

As far as casting distance, I think I could cast my bait caster just as far as my spinning reels depending on the lures of course.

But spinning is good for lighter lures and plastics. Thats the only place I would use them.

Again, Im not a pro so... I just thought I would add some input haha

  3. Hey everyone.... Well... Ive been doing some thinking and I think I need to start looking for a truck to go with the boat. I dont think putting a hitch on my grand am would be the best thing for me !

I just called about F-150s and aparently for a new reg. cab 150.. your looking at almost $600/mnth to LEASE !!!!! and even more to buy !

I can get into a ext. cab ranger for about the same money Im paying for my car today ! So thats more in the budget !

Just wanted some feedback from the Ranger owners on the forum... Likes, Dislikes, etc.

Also, would 4x4 be the best way to go ? or can I get away with 2wd

    Thanks

  4. Only experience I have with the Pinery is on May 24 weekend back with I was 16... With it being a dry weekend... it wasnt much of an experience due to the "Yogis" ... and the fact that it snowed a few days before we went.... spent the rest of a weekend in a friends cottage they rented.

Its a nice place but its about 2 miles out of town and there isnt any fishing there.

  5. Pike, Perch, Bass are in the bay.... the perch are tough to come by sometimes but the pike are pretty well everywhere. Bass well, you already know the story with them... to bad you weren't coming a few weeks later because the Bass fishing is GREAT !

I found weed lines with spinnerbaits work good for pike !

  6. thanks for the input everyone

I figured they were blown I just didn't know 100% so I cam to the best source to find out !

Now I guess the question is how do you replace the seals ?

Im not planning on throwing the B/B away.... just the prior owner didn't know how to use them properly so this time around I wont over pack them once the new selas are in !

  7. Hey everyone

Progress is coming along on the trailer... I went over to my grandpas last night and looked at the wheels and I thought he had bought new bearing buddies or the trailer. But he just cleaned the old ones since they were so covered in crap they look brand new now. But I think I might have a rear seal blown ... I heard it was pretty easy to do if you over loaded them, which I suspect the guy who owned it before did !

Ill show a few pics of the progress and of what I am talking about !

    CIMG0445.jpg

This is what the inside of the old rims looked like.... there is about an inch of old grease and crap built up in there.... there was actually a stone lodged in it all ! haha

    CIMG0449.jpg

The old bunks.... Im going to re-install longer ones so the boat isn't resting on the rollers

    CIMG0450.jpg

Here are the inside of the hubs... Does it look like blown seals to you ?

    Thanks for the help everyone

  8. hey all !

progress is starting to speed up on the boat and I think the trollin motor install will be next on the list.

Should I have a battery for the trolling motor on its own ? or can I run the fish finder and light off the same one ?

Also, what guage wire should I use for the trolling motor ?

    thanks !

  9. Did you say 28000 for the course? That fee is way out of wack. Are you sure?

Yea... Im from chatham and the Ontario Truck Driving school has it. 7 pieces of equipment and your AZ costs $27995

I also looked and there is a course for 6 pieces and your DZ for &17000 I belive

Just google "Ontario Truck Driving School" and check it out.

  10. Have you considered a trade? Even something that "runs like a deere" must need service from time to time.

Hahah Yea, Im good buddies with one of the Techs in our shop and he let me in on what kind of coin he is bringing in.... thats where the thoughts started to come from of persuing another career. He makes VERY good money for his age. $50K and he's 25. But I've never been that type of guy, Im not mechanically smart hahah I know how to drive them, thats forsure ! Ever since I was a little kid thats all I wanted to do !

  11. Hey everyone,

I currently work as a sales person for a John Deere Dealer. I love my job, it sounds weird but Ive been obsessed with John Deere since I was a little kid hahah

Latley I have been thinking about life and where I want to be in a few years.... My gf and I have been doing alot of future planning. On that note, sales is a tough career because there isnt much security. One year can be great and the next, the bottom will fall out ya know ?

So I've been thinking about what I enjoy doing and operating equipment is something I always loved to do and be around.

Ive been thinking about maybe taking the heavy operators course but for $28000 its a little pricey. Ive heard tonnes of stories of guys taking the course only to come out and work at Mcdonalds or something because they can't find a job. I know if you are laid off from your job, Un-employment will pay for the course, but I can't see myself being laid off any time soon. Usually in my line of business your either hired or fired.

I guess the question is, has anyone here taken the course ?? what was your thoughts on it ?

Also, are any of you heavy equip. operators ? and how do you feel about your career ? Do you think it is something I should look further into ?

  12. My gf's Aunt re-Married and the guy she married, his parents own the cottage. But we do a yearly trip in the summer and starting last year, now at new years ! hahah

Its a beautiful place.... on Pussey lake ? haha I think thats how you spell it.

Aparently they stock the lake with lakers or something ? Thats what I was told !

Im going to be taking the boat up with me, is there anything on the lakes I should be watching out for ? I dont want to take a bottom end off or anything ! haha

  13. Detroit is my team. So ofcourse Im a little Biased.

Hossa, in game one, did cover the puck which should have been a penalty shot. Can't blame the wings for that though, the Ref didn't do his job.

In game 2, he DID NOT cover the puck, in the replay showing a view from the front of the net you can clearly see the puck on the ice WITH OUT Hossa covering it.

Now lucky bounces in hockey are part of the game. Sometimes they go your way, some times they dont. At the moment, Detroit has them going there way.

Frustration is a huge part of the game aswell... the Pens are to young of a team, they are VERY frustrated right now. Malkin proved that with his rediculous show at the end of the game last night with Zetterburg. He honestly looked like a kid throwing a fit. He was tossing hay makers with his stick still in his hands ??? Come on now... that was just embarrasing.

Fleury hasn't shown up in this series yet. Detroits first goal was a lucky bounce off the boards, but other than that they have been good goals.

Osgood is amazing. He does not get the credit he deserves.

Crosby, well for being 21, and the leader of an NHL team at such a young age. I think he is doing a pretty good job. He also hasn't shown up in this series yet either. Last night hit the post and if Osgoods pad would have been about .25" lower to the ice, he would have had a goal and a tie game. But again, the bounce just didn't go his way. To the person who said Crosby is a "whiney baby" maybe you should check out his team mate Malkin....

Pens. coach should have called a time out when they iced the puck after that long shift. That was a mistake on his part and in turn, Detroit capitalized.

Detroit has so much talent right across the board. To expect to win against them with a couple star players. Well its not going to happen.

I wanted to see an exciting series as much as anyone else. But on the other hand... its just as sweet to watch Detroit teach the young Pens how to win !

Detroit in 5 games. ( I say that only so they can win at home ;) ) haha

  14. I just got back from NAPA and asked about a quart of self etching primer for my boat.

He said that I have to buy activator with it aswell or it wont dry ? and in total was going to cost me about $100 to get everything I needed !

Now tell me please... am I looking at the wrong stuff cause that sounds crazy expensive. But I could be wrong.. any help would be apreciated

  15. Hey everyone

Just picked up a partner for the series this year so it looks like Ill be making me big break into tounrament bass fishing !

We will be fishing the tri-bay bass tournaments. Should be a good time

Any one else going to be fishing the tournaments ?

  16. What you have now are perfectly fine, don't waste your money on the 5.3's, spend it on fishing gear and beer.

Just get 'er on the road and go.

hahaha there is always room in the budget for beer ! Fishing gear... well thats a different story !

I have found that 4.8x12 and 5.3x12 are around the same price so Im not gaining any more$$ by sticking with the 4.8s

  17. Hey everyone

Just getting ready to buy some new tires for the boat trailer as the ones on there are ready to pop any day now hahah They are so badly dry rotted im surprised they havent pop just sittin in the drive way !

Any how... at the moment the tires are a 4.8x12 on a 5 bolt pattern (4.5" spacing I believe)

I want to step up the size of the tire because I want to be able to travel a fair distance with it. Plus all the water is a good 15-20 min drive from home aswell.

I found some 5.3x12's for a good price..$70 rim and tire. But will those be big enough if I wanted to go up north.... say 6-7 hour drive ? :dunno:

If you were replacing your wheels and upgrading... what would you go with ?

I'd like to go with some yokohomas on 20" rims :w00t: hahah but I think thats a little outta the budget :wallbash:

    Thanks
