  1. Some good ones so far ! haha

Mine, whenever I go out, usually I have a tin of Skoal with me.... if the fish arent biting, Usually Ill throw a "Rally Dip" in. Half the time, I wont catch a fish still.... but I do catch a small BUZZZ :w00t::w00t:

I also hate catching a fish the first cast.... tends to be a slow night when that happens :wallbash:

Whats the deal with the Bananas ????????? :dunno:

  2. Hey all...

I guess im trying to sharpen my "tells" if you will..

Last night the wife and I went out for a couple hours to try some shallow top water. We had about 10 blow ups... which I consider a good bite for a couple hours fishing. We only managed to get one to the boat due to improper drag settings not allowing for proper hook sets or I think these " scum frogs " are just that.... scum catchers. I couldnt manage to set a hook with them ! I tried to keep the boat about 15-20 yrd from shore. I would say the fish were sitting in about a foot of water ! The wife took to top water like nothing.... She would see the blow up.. wait a second or two then WHAM set the hook ! haha She just couldn't get them to stay on... neither could I tho !

ANYWAYS .... this morning was nice and sunny and warm. Now the temp has dropped a couple degrees in about 2 hours and clouds have moved in with about a 20K wind. Pressure is about 101.KPA ( Yea thats right, I have the weather network on my desk top ! haha )

Would the top water bite still be on ? Fish will want to get to warmer waters right now right ? So I think if I were to head out and try the top water game again, I should get some action ?

OR correct me if I am wrong, would they move deeper right now ?

    Thanks !

  3. Hey everyone

The bite has been tough so far for bassin....

Anyone found any patterns working for them so far ???

As usually the top water bite at night worked for us friday night.... saturday the morning bite was on for a bit and then it seemed like everything shut down after wards.

We tried everything, spinners, frogs, buzzbaits, flippin jigs, worms, crankbatis, drop shots hahah NOTHING !

anyone having success this year so far ?

  4. Hey everyone,

Just curious who's pitching and flippin Jigs alot ? What do you use for heavy weed cover ?

Saturday we pre-fished for the tourney on sunday in rondeau bay and I was flippin jigs most of the day with no luck. It could have been the color I was using but its all I have at the moment haha I was using a green pumpin football head... I think it was 3/4 ounce with a rage tail craw trailer.

I found I was getting caught up in the weeds alot..... should I usea different profile jig ?

What is your go to Jig/trailer when pitchin ?

  5. Just got back from Canadian Tire on my lunch.... went there cause I saw some "trilene" in the flyer on sale.

Walked down the fishin isle to find Power pro on sale for $14.99..... I picked up a spool of 50# and 40#

I just left BPS on friday night n Vaughn and the same spool of 50# I paid I think $21 for ! :wallbash:

  6. John Deere LA155 is a good choice for residential use. 48" deck with a 22HP Briggs twin motor !

They can handle a snow blower or a snow blade. Nice little tractor, Ive probably sold 10-15 of them this spring so far.

Consumer reports rates the LA100 series of lawn mower as #1 in its market.

If you live in the city they are great little mowers. Right now, Deere has no interest/payments for 1 year on these particular ones.

    $2849 + Tax

  7.

Thats pretty harsh guys ! No matter what has happened in his life in the last few years..... You can't deny he was a GREAT artist !

Micheal has been one of my top 3 artists in my life. I have been listening to him since I can remember. Apparently when I was to small to remember, "man in the mirror" used to be one of my favorite songs, I would dance all the time to it !

Every labour day the family gets together and Micheal Jackson Cd's are ALWAYS playing ...... Its a very very hard thing to take in today ! I can't believe it !

    wow....

  8. If all you need it for is to power a generously proportioned you don't need a honkin' deep cycle, just pick up a sealed 5A or 7 amp sealed battery from any hobby store that deals with radio control. $20-$30, and it will power a generously proportioned and low draw LED nav lights for days, maybe 5-6 pounds.

If you want to avoid holes in the hull, mount the transducer to a piece of L channel aluminum ($3/foot) and clamp that to the transom. Works good for ice fishing too, ghetto portability, that's how I roll.

Oh, and silicone isn't that good of an adhesive, it's a flexible sealant. 5200 is both.

When you say Generously proportioned what do u mean by that ? hahaha dumb question probably !

Would a lawn mower battery work ?

  9. LOL, sorry, that was funny

Seriously though, those formations are SICK!!! Its unbelievable to me. I say every year im going to go to one of the air shows and never do. I gotta get off my butt. Last time i was at one was when i was a kid and i remember being totally floored at the noise and the maneuvers.

I had my own little show a few summers back as one of the lakes i fish has a base near by, (oneida in new york) we were getting our gear in the boat one morning, and a fighter jet out of nowhere came what seemed to be right over our heads and banked hard, it made my entire week and i think shut the fish down for that morning as i remember there wasnt much of a bite going on. I dont know what the pilot was thinking, but since he pulled it off safely, i was glad he did............whatever it was he was doing lol

I took the nephew by the airport (buffalo) the other night on a bike ride, and we sat and watched the planes land right over our heads by the runway entrance........HE WAS DIGGIN IT, Hed LOVE going to one of these airshows for sure.

Hahaha .... I used to go to london air show all the time when I was very little and since they have I guess toned it down quite a bit. I saw the night hawk ( stealth bomber) there the last year I was there. ALL kinds of jets and what not.... I think they have reduced it to bi-planes and things of that nature now.

I think it would be great to go to the Paris air show. Every plane you could think of flys there !

Great shots by the way !

  10. For what it's worth, some Bass are still on the beds. I know for a fact that some hatched yesterday! Might want to hold off on the shallow stuff for another week or two or so?

Weather and water conditions have been an up and down roller coaster this year. The bass that started to spawn earlier this month may have had their fry die due to dropping temperatures we experienced.

Yea my partner and I were thinking the same thing... fishing might be a week or 2 behind due to the crazy temp changes. These last few days and the ones to come should help get things on track though. Its been hot as hell ! haha

  11. Thats why I hated living in London.... Im a small city guy and I had one of my buddies have the same thing happen to him... busted in his place, stabbed him and did what they had to do and left. I heard plenty of stories of guys jumpin people walkin around the college late at night for no reason.

It just seems people in big cities have nothing better to do sometimes. Its a crazy world.

I dont think I've heard anything like this happen in Chatham... yet.

Hope your buddies ok and they find the guys ! GUTLESS... all there is to it !

  12. I would try hooking up to the trolling motor battery you already have....you might not experience any interference. You can test that on land or the next time out. Looking at the boat I'm not only trying to save you money but also space and unnecessary weight.

If you have to get another battery a group 24 size deep cycle would be your best choice for what you want to do with it.

    Bob

Space isnt really an issue, I have put the trolling motor battery in one of the benches.

Can you run a electric trollin motor out of the water ? if so, Ill hook up the fish finder tonight to it and see if I get any interference.

  13. I have to disagree with over 20 years of experience with just regular 3M Silicone... I put some on where I screwed the transducer onto the transom that's now 24 years old (still holding), so I would say it's pretty good adhering to aluminum. I have use this stuff for MANY projects and it never lets me down. But if you must purchase special much more expensive stuff, GO FOR IT.

P.S. the screws to the right of the drain plug are a little too close to the motor to mount a transducer IMHO.........you might very well get too much turbulence causing air bubbles to interfere with the transducer reading the bottom/fish.

Good Luck and let us know how you made out.

    Bob

Hahah thanks Bob... I knew about the screws already in the hull but like you said, I too thought it was a little to close to the motor.

The 3M5200 epoxy I have ... I think I only paid $15 for a big tube of it. The size that goes in a caulking gun. I think thats a pretty good deal.

So is a deep cycle really needed for fish finders, lights, etc. or will a reg battery work ? I already have the deep cycle for my trollin motor... but I know not to use it for fish finders due to interference !

  14. The 500 series manual you got with the unit should tell you where to install the transducer...have you read that?

Yea I did... I didn't see anywhere in it installation tips though? Maybe I skimmed over it :blush: . I bought it used so maybe there is an intallation guide or something Im missing :dunno: ... No big deal.
