Personally I'd probably look at a fenwick , might be a little more. Than 110. Decent rod for the money , other than that maybe shimano convergence or rapala ?

I've hooked about half a dozen on the lower Niagara , but I'm still yet to land one . They can really pull in the current down there . Nice surprise for sure

I have the Loop Opti speedrunner as well , its 5-1/8" diameter and an 1" wide with lots of porting , but that reel picks up like no other , I use it on my switch rod in the lower niagara ! You do have to be careful not to step on it for sure , I could see it bending but I have had no issues with mine , I think you'll like the Hardy my Dad just got the 9000 I believe, for a switch rod but I haven't had the chance to play with it yet but they are kind of the same idea as the loop I think it will make a great trout reel , I'm not a fan of the Lamson reels though I've never owned one . Annnnd the Hardy will look pretty wicked on that custom without a doubt

My next reel will be a Nautilus NV 10/11 with the G-8 spool , buuut I have to save my pennies . Currently I use a Loop Opti runner on my 8 wt single hand and its been a great reel fairly good line pick up and a smooth drag it handles screaming bonefish and trout . I'm not a fan of loud click reels myself

Not sure if you're open to other options but you can fish really cheap in Cozumel. I did full day fly fishing for bonefish, a boat, guide and beers(and lunch) for 250 usd. Best months for fish are May and April. Lots of bonefish, permit show up in May as well as baby tarpon (up to 20 lbs). You can fly and spin fish all day and no winds in the spring. I'm working on a trip back there maybe this year but things are getting very busy for me, maybe 2014.
Thanks Fang
Not really looking for bonefish though , more looking to cross some more fish off the list , I have 2 maybe 3 weeks planned next year chasing bones, permit and tarpon again in cuba . I've been to Mexico as well but didn't get to fish much , I want to do the florida thing cause I only want to go for 4 days max not a whole week
