  1. And to make matters even more rediculus, those fish (any Quinte walleye) TASTE LIKE CRAP!

    HH

We (two of us) kept a couple of the bigguns (one each) from last year .... sorry if it offends some .. but those were the only walleye either of us got to eat for the past two years (didnt make it out this year) so I dont really feel too guilty about it ... and IMHO they tasted FABULOUS ... I fully agree though that meat hunting is best done at the butcher.

On another note, when keeping fish from a slot-limit area not only are you required to keep some skin on the fillet but you must also keep the whole skeleton (head and Tail on) to show you were within the slot. Just a safety issue to avoid some poor uninformed guy who gets stopped and charged with a crime he didnt commit.

  2. Not to stir the pot even further .. but I would be totally in support of a 2 rod limit - everywhere.

I certainly dont advocate breaking the law ... but I do advocate changing the law. The possession limits are what matter not the number of rods.

As I have mentioned in other 'limit' related questions ... much of the research the MNR does is on ANGLER SUCCESS ... and all you have to do is read their stocking/budgeting reports to find out they spend more time and money where angler interest/success is the highest.

  3. It's below freezing here in my area at this time of the year. I still do a lot of shore fishing for brook trout in the Saguenay River. Staying warm and dry takes first place on the menu. Even for sitting down, you don't last very long sitting on a big boulder. So far, I have been doing pretty good with neoprene gloves and big mitts that the guys who work for mining companies wear in the far north. I bring along a pair of wool gloves and fingerless wool gloves too. I also bring along a few small dry thick cotton towels to dry my hands.

I don't care if I may look a bit wierd but I wear a full snow suit and -74 C snow boots too. No such thing as being too warm when the temperature is on the average of -3 during the day and the constant 10 to 30 mph wind.

Hey Dabluz .. I agree 100% .. in fact the BEST gloves are a pair of those grey woollen socks (I call them lumberjack socks) ... they keep ya warm EVEN after they get wet !

What I wouldnt do for a little saguenay Speck fishing right abut now ... even though our chrome is nice .. nothing can match those specks ! Lets see some pictures !!!!

  4. .....Nice, very nice.

But all these succesful steel reports are killing me guys. I'm definitely getting jealous. :(

Hey Spiel .. if you're willing to deviate from the GB tribs a tad ....I'd be happy to show you a few quiet holes this weekend with all the chrome you can handle :)

  5. The beauty about fishing is it doesnt get cancelled if the 'other guy' doesnt show ... and ... imho ... it can be just as much fun .... anyhow ... I chime in only because I cam THIS CLOSE -><- to coming down un-spec on Staurday after picking my daughter up from Laurier ...but figured there wouldnt be any room in anyones boat and didnt wanna be the third wheel ....anyhow sounds like as always it was a bumper-crop of Reach- walleye

Next year ... IM IN !!!!! .... who wants me to prepay for a seat and a spot on the floor ? :D :D :D

  6. Nice fish man, I also used vanished before but soon found out it was garbage. Now I use 6 lb Gama and 4 seaguar. Haven't had any steelies on it but alot of salmon. No break offs so far :thumbsup_anim:

Well it is definitely wierd .. I could have sworn I loved vanish ... but maybe that was for ice fishing (straight off the spool) .... I will most certainly be taking if off my 'whisker' .... it just couldnt stand up to the fast runs and acrobatics ... and it seemed to fray VERY quickly ... sheesh ... I went through a whole package of Gammy's !

  7. Wow ... what a day !

Headed to the Credit yesterday around 5:30 ... only to find chocolate milk ... so after a quick stop for some of McDee's finest I decided to head eastward where I know all my tribs tend to clear up much more quickly.

When I got to trib babiganouche (my favourite because I know every inch of this one) ... it was amazing ... first hole had about 20 fish in it ... and no company ... unfortunately I would not be alone for long ... any how I went 0 for 3 here and got a beautiful 5 leap fight out of a fresh chrome hen before heading up stream to fish in solitude.

Water was just slightly coloured so conditions were ideal.

There were fish at every turn - all very fresh and FULL of Fight... many were airborne instantly.

All in all a great day but I really didnt have a very good ratio today ... I went 2 for 13 ( cant remember having so many break offs) - I think it may have something to do with the 6lb Vanish I re-spooled with the night before ... not enough stretch for my liking ... even if it is low vis.

Any how I only got one pic ... he was 26 " and about 7lb ... and he's the one I decided to keep for my self imposed '1 fish limit' ... the other was actually bigger but I released him in the water no pics (sorry Team 7)

  8. Corey I too have the H20c and the CDN topo maps set ... not sure if will work ... but if you figure it out I am ALL over that (of course without breaching any copyright issues) .... so far the fishing maps I use - that have all the hotpspots and water depths havent found their way onto my GPS ... just the Mapcreate stuff .. which while it is excellent .. is almost useless to me on the water
