  1. BPS had a tone of 6501's C4's but not sure about the C3's. The C4's were only $90 after tax. Great deal for a spare or an occasional use reel.

If you are going to use it all the time try and convince yourself to spend a little more, you wont be disappointed and it will last a lifetime

  2. Just a tip. TEXT messaging works on different frequencies and is usually picked up in most areas. This is true. Try it out. Go out to the Middle of a huge body of water ie. Georgian Bay and Text someone, you will get a response. Also, check your phone for Analog, you can usually pick up a signal in the most remote ares. Even areas that are not covered.

    Hope this helps someone out

  3. Okay, I think that is enough persuasion for me. Welcomed by both the Chapter Chair and the President, I dont know of any organization who is this welcoming.

    Thanks to everyone.

Soon to be a member. (then i will know the "rules" and "secret handshake" hahaha

  4. The Curado is such a smooth reel, it costs an arm and a leg but if you are using big baits its worth every penny. Cant go wrong with an Abu if its your first Baitcaster. I have had my 6500 UC for about 6 or 7 years now and nothing is wrong with it. I love it as much as my Curado. The Calcuttas are really fine too. I just picked up a C4 at BPS last weekend only cus of the price. Its my spare for......well I didnt really need it but I bought it anyways.

  5. For Pike I would say its all about location and not really much to do with Time of Day/Year. I know a lot of larger pick are caught using Moon Calendars and such but the time doesnt seem to matter to the rest of them. Look for some veg and some warmer/shallower bays at the north ends of lakes. Dont go out of your way to catch pike. They always bite.

  6. I am a righty naturally. My spinning are all left and my baitcasters are mainly right handed cranking. I have 1 left handed baitcaster and i can use it just as well. I think this is more of a comfort/preference question.

try both see what works for you. if you get the fish to the boat it doesnt really matter just get a bigger net

  7. I sold my 80' 20HP Johnson and now run a 93' 15HP. I miss the old one though. The 20HP seemed to run as fast as the 30HP they are putting out today. Either way, i have had no problems with either, other then my 93' snapping the throttle cable, due to a mechanic that had no idea how to reassemble after cleaning the carb

  8. Dax, Great to see that you are on here. I think I am going to join anyways. To your point, "what you can give" well there is my problem. I dont know how much I can give, although I am fantastic at occupying space.

I will be in contact with you and hopefully you can shed some light on the organization first hand for me.

Thanks to everyone else, everyone seems to be pretty happy with the decision to join and seems like a lot of great people are involved.

I am looking forward to becoming a member with the rest of you guys.

  9. Will do Roy. Thanks for the info. I saw his info on the site but was hoping I would get some feedback from different members rather then the Chapter itself, which I will inevitably end up talking to.

Thats good to know about the Odyssey. I went last year and enjoyed just being there. Looking forward to next years.

  10. BPS has the photocopies for the Rebates. They dont have any "real" rebates only copies. All the companies are honoring these though. Just make sure you ask when you are in the store. My cousin bought last year and had to talk with the manager because the rebate wasnt valid in Canada. BPS gave him a gift card for the amount to compensate.

  11. We stayed at Three Castles in Buckhorn last year, and although the cottages are not the most high class, the cottage had everything we need. We were very close to the water and if we needed something they help us out. There was a BBQ, full kitchen with coffee maker, full size stove and fridge and all utensils. They cottages were a bit older but were very very clean and it was quiet although being full. We had full use of the docks and ramp and parking for the trailer and truck. It was a great experience and it was relatively cheap. We went the last week of July/First week of August and we paid only $560 for the week.

I would go back there for sure if we decide to head up that way again. And I would recommend it to anyone going that direction. Its not a 5 Star resort but if you want comfort, really nice owners and a clean place to stay have a look. They wouldnt even let me pay. I wanted to pay the first day but they said just wait wait wait see if you enjoy it and like staying and come back at the end of the week to pay. No one is this trustworthy anymore especially with a younger couple.

All and all it was great.

  12. I am thinking about joining Muskies Canada but I am not sure what the benefits are. Can anyone on here help me out. I know the money goes to research and such but what are the other benefits. I am Stoney Creek and I know they have a Hamilton Chapter but I dont see any meetings or anything for this Chapter.

I know there are a few guys on here that are members so I am hoping you guys can shed some light.

Also does anyone know if there is a 208 Odyssey this year in St. Kitts?

    Thanks,

  13. Hey guys,

I checked out the sportsman show yesterday. Parking lot was full, we got there around 1:30, and they were not letting anyone in through some entrances. We ended up parking on Atlantic Ave just off of King Street for free with about a 2 minute walk to the doors. Great move, I am glad my girlfriend knows her way around the city as she works about a minute from the CNE.

I wasnt that impressed with the show itself. I liked that they changed it around this year and made it seem bigger. The hunting hall was moved and the dogs were in their place. I was there for about 4 hours and didnt purchase a thing other then a shirt for the girlfriend.

Now to my point, I sifted through the booths only to be disappointed. There were deals but nothing I was in the market for. Well I got to the JB's booth and noticed that their supply was running low on a lot of items I was looking for. They actually didnt bring a lot of the Musky stuff to the show. I ended up talking to Brian (owner) and chatted for a bit about some lures and rods. He told me that they were waiting on a pretty big shipment of stuff the second week in April. He agreed to honor his show prices for me in the store when they get the stuff in because they didnt bring the stuff I was looking for. Because of his service and being friendly and taking the time to hear what I was looking for, he just gained a customer that overspends far too often.

Every show I purchase about $100 bucks worth of lures from him and his brother but because he was so helpful I am willing to go out of my way to support his store.

So in April, when his shipment comes in, because of his service I will be purchasing 2 rods, a line counter reel, some flouro leader material, and about $200 in lures.

Not sure if Brian or his brother check out this board, but I was impressed.

Thanks Brian, and you have gained a customer in me and word of mouth will go along way.

I hope everyone else has had a pleasant experience with these guys because they seem like really good people.

  14. Hey Jim,

A lot of resorts have different fees for different options. High Season, Waterfront and Dockage are all common. Some places include them and some charge a premium.

Have a look around and ask. $8-$15 is standard Docking for most places, but if you can find some, they allow you to dock for free and load for free.

Just look around and see what you can find.

    Mike

  15. Hey Guys,

I have never fished the Niagara River and I want to give it a go this year. I want to get a NY State Fishing License but I dont know where to purchase them.

    Can someone help me out?

I checked online and they only show prices but not where to purchase.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  16. You will be really happy if you go with the Premier. They are great rods and have been revamped 4 times since the intro to the Musky Series. They are not nearly as heavy and a lot more sensitive. They are not the broom sticks (which are still great) that they used to be.

I cant wait to get my hands on a rod tomorrow at the show. I think I have convinced myself to pick up 2 more and a Tokota as well.

    There goes my money hahaha
