  1. Is this directed to me? lol

My boss' says I do exellent work around here and I catch an assortment of fish every year.

    lol.

Seriously though, reefrunners are very good crankbaits that have a distinctive wobble to them that walleye can't resist. But as was mentioned, there are alot of cranks to choose from and the ripstick should only be part of your arsenal.

I have had success targeting pike with them in the past, casting adjacent to weed beds to intice those ambushing brutes burried in there. Also, try casting along a wind swept shorline. Another bonus is that the action of the bait has a metronome "feel" to it that if you notice it skip a beat good chances you got a strike.

  2. Oops forgot about technique.

I just weedless rig a sinking worm without weights through a hook like any other jig. Cast out in pockets of weeds and keep my line tight on the drop. If you got polarized sunglasses, sometimes you can see the strike just because the bait disappears from view. I usually wait until I feel the weight of the fish before I set the hook.

  3. Had success with their sinking worms on bass in weed beds. I bought a pack of 3inch leaches that I'm dying to try on pickeralleyes this year. i will definately post the results. stay tuned...coming sometime this summer.

  4. Welcome to the board and I look forward to your input.

My recommondation for those Northern toothy critters is a BIG spoon, like a daredevil in the five of diamonds pattern or a heavy Cyclops. Top water can be fun, just be sure to have a strong leader.

  5. Hey Napjohn8,

I'm from Mississauga as well but haven't really mastered the area I've been living in my whole life. It wasn't until the last couple of years or so I started to venture about the lakeshore and look for good spots to take a couple of casts.

Like you, I find the most action around here is when the Salmon run in the fall, but you can also find cats in the Credit usually in the 1 to 3 pound range year round.

Of course, come mid-May Pike can be found around the T.O. islands and harbourfront. In June, bass, carp, bowfin and cats are also found.

Anyway, all I can say is keep tryin' and you never know what you might hook into. I take a camera with me just in case I catch that two-headed pike, lol.

    Best of luck,

  6. Sorry about the loss and hopefully it'll be recovered soon.

I remember seeing a spot on "A" Channel new not long ago about a theft ring that was stealing trailers, ATV, cars and the sorts and dumping off on an abandoned lot until they sold 'em out of Barrie. If anyone is driving by such a lot, haver a peek and see if Terry's articles are there. If you're approached, tell 'em you thought it was a sales lot and the perps might even try selling Terry's stuff.

Call the Police before Terry gets to them. I know I'd be rabid.

  7. Hey Anton,

Glad you got out there. As for myself, I got out on Friday and for an hour and a half after work last night. Didn't even get a follow, so consider yourself luckier than I. I did manage to wash a couple of my lures and test run some others I picked up at the sportsman show. Think I'll give her a try one more time before season closes up momentarily.

    Better luck to you sir,

  8. I would also like to extend my thanks to the board :clapping:

I've only been here for a month or so but have already had the opportunity and privilage to participate in Fishin for Tyler, talk with OFNers and heed their advice to make educated purchases on fishing equipment and provide advice and opinions to other members where able. I can only imagine the contributions of members and mods from years past.

Thank you for providing a great service, we are all in your debt.
