  1. Try your luck around the West Arm. Oversized Spinners, Suicks and Believers. For colours black and orange seem to do well for me.

10,000 casts and you should at least get a strike...lol. Good luck.

  2. Nice fish. I went piking yesterday evening afterwork and got skunked. I've noticed that most of these pike are caught during "happy hour," ie. 11am. Is that the case with your GF's pike? I am just wondering if I'm wasting my time fishing late evenings because after 3-4 outings the skunk will never leave.

  3. I've been to a couple parks in Mississauga along the lakeshore this year, as it is where I reside. However, to date I have had no luck, not even a tap. These trips were all before the season shutdown so the action may pick up about now with the warmer temps. If you are interested, PM me, and I'll give up a spot or two. Maybe you'll have beet luck than I will, seeing that I won't be able to wet a line until early June.

  4. What's the story on Pink?

A couple of years ago I had great success with a Pink Fluke.

What part of matching the hatch do they come under?

I figured it was because I could see it so much better that I fished it better...

    Garry,

At the sportsman show this year, I posed the same inquery with a tournament angler attending the event. Simply, he said, Pink was popular because of visibilty. Take senkos for instance, you cast 'em out there and watch them drop. A good indicator of a hit is if the bait disappears from view. Couple with a set of good polarized sunglasses, watching for strike on the drop with bright coloured plastics is a favourite tool of many tournament bass fishermen. White is also a popular colour in this regard.

Besides senko for LMB, I like a white/chartruse spinner bait, preferably double-bladed, tipped with a trailer and a 3 inch plastic twister tail. For SMB, tubes are great and occasionally a small crankbait.

  5. I'm heading up to the Moon River on Thursday AM for the weekend. Pike and Pickerel open on the 1st! I'll have to read what I need to bring with me to make sure the fish can be entered into the contest. On a side note... anyone have any tips for up there for pike or pickerel??

Unfortunately, I won't begin my season until early June because I'm cramming for an exam then. However, anything to help out a team memeber...The Moon basin has many extraodinary opportunities for pike. As they are just coming off the spawn, target pike in warmer back bays that are adjacent to deeper water. I like using xraps, reefrunners and through weed patches, a spinner bait.

    Good luck. Go TEAM 9.

  6. Very nice photos there CCMT. Some of those should go in a frame, entitled, "My family outfishing me, as usual." lol.

Did I miss it? You did not catch anything?

Great for the kids to get out and enjoy the outdoors. You are an awsome parent.

    Congrats to the family.

    You...better luck next time, lol.
