  1. Welcome aboard!

I'm only a minnow but looking forward to some replies on OFC recognition. I guess a g2g would be the best way to meet some community memebers. Fishing for Tyler is coming up, I'm still manuevering to get outta a previously scheduled commitment so I can make my way to meet some OFNers.

  2. I would guess about 150 days or so, if you can count chuckin' spoons off the lakeshore in Mississauga with not a hope in hell but just getting my line wet. Minus those excursions, I would estimate about 75 days of QUALITY time on the water. Man, I can't wait to retire and I'm only 26! lol

    I envy most of you.

  3. Not only is it a sport but it is considiered THE MOST DANGEROUS SPORT IN THE WORLD. (according to the show Manswers) Apparently there are more fishing related deaths per year than boxing, MMA, sky diving combined. Don't know the exact number, but it's a fact.

    Be careful out there.

  4. You guys are gonna get me fired. lol.

The bright-side on that note, I'd be fishing more often...cause it'll have to be fish for dinner 7 nights a week. lol

Thanks a bunch guys and gals!

    Look forward to contributing.

  5. Shimano Spirex is a reliable reel as I owned one in the past and believe it's still hangin' around in the garage as a backup. Heard bad things about the cherrywood rod though. I'm sure others with more experience on the rod would chime in here. As inexpensive rods go, I really like some the the BPS models. I got a 7foot med/heavy im6 for $35 or so (someone was hiding it in the $100 section...tisk, tisk) and I couldn't be happier with the performance.

  6. Simply magnificent Motv8r, truly inspirational. :clapping:

As I mentioned in a previous post of mine, it looks doubtful that I can make it to the g2g. However, I would be honoured to have a chance to contribute. Is there another way I can send a small token of admiration for this great undertaking?

  7. My Dad for sure. I can remember nights wide awake and jumping at the sound of "ready to go?" He used to take me to Little Lake off the 400. Would use only minnows under a yellow and orange bobber and catch pike throughout the day. My Dad still has all the gear he had back then. Long Eagle Claw rods and Dam Quick spinning reels. Poking around some boxes in the garage, I exposed an obscene amount of lures people would call vintage by now, creek chubs, pikie minnows, etc. I got him try my spinning set-up this year, he was amazed how far fishing tech has gotten. lol.

  8. Thanks everyone again. I look forward to sharing my addiction with "like-minded" individuals.

MTP, Those pictures are from film prints as you can tell by the quality...but I am ghostly white. lol.

Big Cliff, I mainly fish on Canal Lake as my parents cottage is there. Anyone lookin' for tips on that body of water I know like the back of my :asshat: I'm there pretty darn much every weekend in the summer. I'm the dude castin away to CCR tracks in the weee hours, waking up the fishes, hope I didn't wake anyone. lol. Venture out to Balsam now and again, but the operating times at the liftlock in Kirkfield doesn't provide me an opportunity to fish "peak" times, therefore, I haven't much luck but a couple of smallies and some big waves to surf in the pontoon.

Fishing for Tyler sounds like an amazing time and a great cause. I'm nursing a broken pinky at the moment so the cold doesn't sound fun. I'll try to get out and meet some of you folks. If I cannot make it though I would like to make a contribution as it is a worthy cause. Let me "hustle" someone I know for some ice gear and go from there.

    Thanks again all,
