  1. i would grab a shimano chronarch 51E small and light weight 6.3 to 1 gear ratio power and speed in one! can usually find one on sale for a good price. fishing world usually has a great spring sale each season with amazing prices. i would bump up the 50lb line though. use 65lb power pro super slick, or 25lb flouro. better to have more line power and not need it then less and break off. and it happens lol.

i know u mentioned the chronarch was at the top of ur price range, but it is well worth the money. i own 2 for flipping, and 4 other chronarchs with more coming this year!

  2. Get to bed early Friday night!!

yup! cause there's ice fishing to do! I don't really care about a bronze medal. after that embarrassment against the USA I don't really care to watch anymore.

having said that , there's not a bigger fan of thw juniors than I am and ill put the game on and watch it while I get ready to hit the ice

  3. The BPS 100MPH is great. The BPS pro qualifier is the bext model down and is excellant. I own it. The simms rainsuit is an amazing suit, I know several guys that own it and they have nothing but praise for it. The shimano dryfender suit has had lots of good reviews and I know a few guys who own it and love it. But they have pants with suspenders u can attach, not actual bibs

  4. I want to buy myself a baitcasting setup finally. I am a newbie to baitcasting, so don't really know what brands/models to be looking at, nor how to match the rod and reel. All I know is that I want a 7'0 MH 2 piece setup. Left hand retrieve. Anywhere from the $100-$200 range. What are my options?

    Thanks,

    Matt.

If u live anyplace near hamilton, I have a quantum kinetic PT baitcaster ill sell u for 80 and u can use the rest on a rod. Its an excellant reel, easy to use, great brake system, its basically brand new, bought in the spring, Its a step up on the shimano citica, and would be better then the new curado's as well.

  5. Gary bettman is the worst thing to happen to the nhl. He has not done a thing to improve the game! Since his tenure started as commish, he has changed rules to make the game less enjoyable, implemented the silly shootout, and caused 2 lockouts, goining on 3. I don't recall any other commish causing a lockout in the history of the league. His a twit.

Stoty has it bang on, they make stupid money, yes. But we support them! No one is gonna turn down 100 mil to play a game!

  6. I use a nrx dsr822 and a stella fe. Awesome setup. But costly.

Ya think?! My wife would KILL me!! I know this, I've tried! Lol but yes, absolutely a killer combo!

I run 3 set ups, cause all I do is dropshot for smallies.

    6'10 medium xtra fast g loomis GL2, 2500 stradic ci4 8lb trilene 100% flouro, size 1 or 1/0 trokar dropshot hook.

6'10 medium xtra fast backwoods custom rod, stradic ci4 8lb flouro, trokar hook

7'2 medium xtra fast shimano crucial, stradic ci4, 8lb flouro trokar hooks.

Baits, god I have so many, but I typically use jackall crosstail shads, x zone slammers and shiver shads, powerteam lures jp hammer shads and finiky ticklers, and bassmagnet, twitch. All are awesome baits and have accounted for many fish, big fish and several tournament wins.

I don't run braid, no need for it. I don't use a swivel, no need and I don't like the extra knots, line twist is inevitable, but managable. Spool correctly, spray with reel magic, learn to back reel.

  7. The 2500 reel is going to be too heavy for the 6'0" ML rod.

You'd want a 1000 size reel for that one. Sahara comes in a 750 size I believe, which would be perfect for the 5'6" rod.

As riverfisher said, a 6'6"-7'0" MH rod with a 2500 reel and 20lb braid is a very versatile setup.

I disagree. Most 2500 size reels aren't much heavier then a 1000 size. Just a larger spool.

A 2500 size would be no problem on that rod. Just pick one that feels good to u on the rod u intend to use.

  8. Pier 4 beach is open for swimming as of last check. But yes, its typically due to all the geese crap from morons feeding them.

As yes, the twilight tourney last nite had 5 fish, for 20 anglers. I fished the event with the winner. The fishing was very tough. More weeds then I really remember seeing down there and the water was quite dirty due to the wind. But on the flip side, we've had evening events down there that had 15lb bags for the top 3 teams, not to mention fish in the 4 and 5lb classes come to the scales. And 97% of the fish all look very healthy u'll find fish on any and every lake that has sore or lesions or some kind of deformation

  9. Don't tell me people keep fish from the harbour!?!?!?!?

of course they do! not uncommon to see asians (no predjudice intended) or older folks down there filling a bucket. the fish there are no more or less harmful then from any other body of water around here. but to keep a sustainable fisherty, prime spawning fish have to be released.
