Plenty of people are fishing around NB on smaller lakes. Walleye is open, just not on Nipissing.
-
Callander bay does not have much for rental huts, it's primarily personal huts. Any reason why you want Cbay in particular? Tons of great operators on the south shore with generally better fishing.
-
Nipissing(*) was great then, and it's great now.

Nothing but cold and wind. Went on my yearly splake/bow trip in FMZ 8 late October and had to break ice and camp in a few inches of snow and subzero temps. Tomorrow will be the earliest I'll have ever gone ice fishing, so I'll take the good with the bad I suppose.

Great job! Some stellar trout fishing around there, would love to spend a week up there.

The first week of November is usually deer season, not sure if there are many organized deer camps in the area, but, and I know you have just as much right to be there as they do, if you are small game hunting in an area where camps are running organized deer drives you won't be the most popular guy in the bush.
Not too many deer hunters once you get up north of Temagami, since that is getting to be near their northern range.
Find the food find the birds. There are many thousands of km's of gravel logging roads with good grouse potential, but plenty of people hunting them too.

I'll be up there in 10 days . Hope they are still hungry. A week on Nippissing and a week down on the French River
I don't know enough to say whether they will be or not, but I do know the days are getting short and the single digit over night lows are getting common. Water temps are getting cooler and the fish will be thinking about fall.

Me and a friend made a short little video of a musky trip we made on Nipissing a couple weeks ago. Lots of musky guys around here (something I am not) so i figured I'd share.

Great fishing. Nip rocks, but you seem to have figured that out already.

Nice squaretails...itchin to get back at it again.

I carry a selection of keel weights. Start light (1 oz) and go heavier as needed (usually don't need more than 2) like curt said, I've never had to go deeper than 20 feet down for summer brookies. I also try to only fish cooler darker windier days.
-
Awesome video, Curt. I agree summer brookies are a lot a easier than what a lot of people seem to think. Do you just run a pinched worm behind that small gang troll?
-
It absolutely poured rain off and on allll day and again just now so hopefully, I'd be shocked if it didn't put a serious dent in the fires.

Nos is a verrry busy lake, you'll be wanting to be on the water early to avoid pleasure boaters if the weather is nice.
-
They frigged off and you bagged a nice one...I'd call that a success
-
And you can just call the office of whatever one you're interested in, they will likely be able to help you.

There are no forums designated for the zec's in english or french that I'm aware of. However, every zec website is in both english and french.

Nice pics. Best Sunset shots we ever got were in Northern Quebec. I'm glad you posted this as I was planning a week up in Zec Kipawa and I was wondering how the warm temps were affecting the fishing. Looks like it's salmon fishing now
Lakes are all in excess of 75-76 degrees on the surface now, ive seen 79-80 in some spots last week. I wouldn't trout fish for a few weeks.

Joey I'm not sure where you got that info. Here's a quote from a member of the Kipawa forum who was up mid June.
" When we launched the Quebec ministry was at the dock stocking the lake.. my buddy struck up a conversation with the employee as my buddy spent some time working for the MNR hatcheries in Ontario. The ministry worker told us they were stocking 50,000 lake trout that day, and another 60,000 the next day... yes that's 110,000 LAKE TROUT!!!! No wonder the fishing is soooo good for them!!
Scuro I know you're on that site. These lads did pretty good on the Greys for the little time they were there. Here's the thread. http://kipawafishingforum.net/index.php?topic=941.0
Cheers
Very cool. A friend of mine was watching them put a batch of 14 000 in at the docks. I guess that was just one of many.

Pretty tough to find keepers with the new slot. Back in June they stocked 14 000 yearling lakers. The improved management of their fall drawdown, stocking, and a bigger slot will make Kipawa an amazing lake trout fishery.

Looking at smoke out of my window off and on all day today. Many, many fires in NE On and along the QC side. Too much lightning, not enough rain.
Guided Moose Hunting Recommendations

I would look into outfitters operating anywhere between Cochrane and Nipigon along the hwy 11 corridor. Still plenty of tags to be had up that way. I can't speak for any particular outfitters, but i know there are a few, and there's plenty of moose.
