    Hey fishfarmer

I think they would be the Capt Paks, they are only about 20" or so long.

I can send some pics a little later if you like.

I am just heading out to Pigeon to try for some Wallies.

I will check back here when I get back hopefully with some pics and dinner.

  3. Sinker

    I have a friend with a 1999 Evinrude 150 ficht.

The specific problems with that model are that the powerheads needed to be replaced due to bad injector placement in the head.

The easy fix was to index the spark plugs so that they faced a specific direction away from the injectors, my buddy puts 2 to 3 sets of

plugs in it yearly because they foul a lot when not running at WOT.

There are many articles on these 1999 models with the problem.

As far as I know it was only that year on a few of the bigger hp models that were affected.

It just happened that the year after the company had those issues, they had the buyout. I don't think the two were related though.

My buddy still thinks the motor is a great motor and runs real strong when not having plug problems.

Here is a site if you want to get some solid info on a specific year or model.

  4. Guess you wouldn't want to go for a ride in my 1946 Piper J3 cub..... :D

..oh and that Beaver you rode in was probably older than the Otter in Eddies adventure pictures...

Hard to believe, and yeah if that Piper is the one in the classifieds lol, I think i'll get ya next time haha.

  5. unfortunately no pics, friend was worried about the weather affects on his cam so he left it in the car lol.

    anyways...

We spent the night glued to the weather network, and our blackberries weather forecasting apps. we came to the conclusion that we would hit rice instead of little lake and hit the sack.

got up around 4:30am, put the espresso in the stove, moved the sonar into the car, and filled the cooler with water. out the door by 5am, we were in port hope by 6am so we decided to stop by timmies for breakfast. as we sat there we noticed lightning to the north and south of us.. we kinda just shrugged it off and said screw it! "vinnie you be my Captain Dan, i'll be forrest gump". lol!

we got to the lake at 6:45 and jumped into our rain suits. vince got into his ok, i struggled a little with mine and when i bent over to tie my shoes... "RRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP" lol it was good tho, i needed a little ac inside that thing.

we were on the water by 7am, there was a little drizzle, and not to much wind so i decided we go for ley point, got about 80 feet from shore and decided to cast. i tossed out an orange and black buck tail, while vince tossed out a perch X-rap. nothing was hitting and the sonar was awkwardly quite, usually its beeping like crazy in that one spot. i decided to push us out a little more to the north of ley point. we went right for the drop off from the point (18 feet) and drifted slightly back.

in about 13 feet of water we started casting towards the weedline. vince had changed over to a silver husky jerk, i had stayed with the buck tail. by his second cast "FISH ON" he pulled in a 13 incher. he casted out again, and again "fish on!" a 12 incher. i at this point decided to change over to a black and white bucktail with silver tinsel, first cast "FISH ON" another 12 incher. we stayed in the same area for about an hour and caught a few more, and some crappie. the bite went stale and so did the weather. the wind kicked up and the rain started pouring. so we headed for the west side of long island since it cut off the wind.

we decided to slow troll the drop off with deep diving cranks so i tossed on my wally diver and vince tossed on a silver rap. by the time the wally diver got down to its destination depth the rod bent over, i reel it in and whats on the end? a perch smaller than the lure it self.. lol! we did a few more passes and more perch. we then moved over to west grape island just north of the sunken island.

in about 10 feet of water the sonar started going mad. fish lining the bottom, and off at about 8 feet. switched over to the silver x rap and hit some nice walleye, a small mouth, and vince lost a huge walleye at the boat, it spit the hook just as he lifted up on the rod. had to be close to 30". we spent the rest of the day there casting raps into that little channel between weedlines and had some good times, lots of mix species, tons of walleye.

at about 4pm we moved over to the drop off at harmony island. we were at 9 feet casting into 3 feet. nothing seemed to be hitting, i changed colors to a perch colored buck tail jig and started casting far into the deep weed line along the outside southern tip of the island. "FISH ON!", vince then changed over to a perch Xrap, and "FISH ON!", most of them were between 12-16 inches. we kept 2 for dinner and that was our day.

so thats my first report. the next one i do will have pics, i promise.

anyone who got out there in the crap weather yesterday i hope yours was as eventful as mine.

    Hey alexcba

Way to go with the fishing, glad to hear you had some luck.

I find that sometimes the lousy weather is just what the doctor ordered to get the fish going.

Can't wait to see your next report with pics. (you promised) lol

  6. It's a Turbo Otter Stan. Built in 1960.. so it would have originally had a radial engine on the front. Suspect it's a Vazar conversion to the turbo prop engine since this one has a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-135 in it and it was probably done in the early 1990's.

.. It'll go where ever a Beaver will (and possibly then some)... and at a gross weight of just shy of 8000 lbs. I wouldn't want to fuel that 750HP.. maintain it or pay the insurance on that beast!

Hey Wayne, thanks for the info.

I didn't realize that planes lasted 50 years with all the stresses of flying that are put on them!

It took me most of my younger years to learn the makes and models of all the cars out there

and what engine options were available.

Too late to start with the planes too. lol

    Thanks again.

  7. What kind of plane is that in Eddie Norths Attawapiskat Adventure?

Curious because it looks so big to be jumping in and out of small lakes.

I have been up a few times in a Beaver but it wasn't near this size.

I also wonder what the wheel in between the seats is that the pilot

    is adjusting all the time.

Went up in a Beaver at Beaverland (go figure lol) a few years ago and

when we were coming in to land on the lake, the pilot came over the

tree line real low to get on the lake and the plane dropped about ten

feet real fast. The pilot was quick to adjust that wheel between the seats

and go back up and come around for a second attempt.

Me, I just wanted to get back to the cabin to change my gotch. haha.

  8. Ok so here is my story... I been fishing since I was a kid like most but only recently (I am 27 now) I started taking fishing alot more seriously. I just purchased my first bait caster and equipped myself with what I believe to be some good muskie lures based on the hours and hours of reading I have done. Btw, I bought a 7' shimano compre with a shimano citica 200E equipped with 20lbs power pro braided line and a 75lbs 12" titanium leader. I was using a large Jitter bug (frog colors) with the jointed ass end.

I was fishing on Big Cedar lake which is right near stoney lake. Fist time heading out to target muskie. Hit the water at 7:30ish and decided to hit one of the bays which I thought could be holding a fish. Keep in mind I have no fish finder. Conditions where nice, sun from the west but was being shaded by a talltree line, winds was blowing soft bu't from the south so I was pretty sheltered. Water was warm, prolly 70's? not to sure. Prtty glassy aswell.

30-40 casts and bingo! Huge fish flying out of the water, my heart was racing like never before. He had completely comped on this bait :D I gave a good firm hook set and the fight was on. About 35-40 min later and 3 flipping jumps out of the water I finally was able to grab him/her. Was a successful release ( i was trying to be VERY careful ) took a bit to revive. I was all alone so this was the best I could do for a pic, and he ripped a hole in my old crappy net LOL.

I will never forget this fight and I plan to target these huge fish more often from now on.

    Awesome fish the-instructor!!

Try not to judge this site by the negative comments you recieve because there is always

someone who will crap on your glory.

Again, well done and go out and get another one.

  9. Wow....that poor Muskie almost looks dead and VERY stressed out :whistling: ....

"About 35-40 min later and 3 flipping jumps out of the water I finally was able to grab him/her"....why did it take so long for you to reel this fish in if you were targetting Muskie to begin with????...I'm very surprised to hear that you were able to revive that fish and even if you did, the chances of that fish surviving is very LOW!!!

Get yourself some heavier line so you can keep your drag set tight without a line break-off, a GOOD Muskie net, some bolt cutters and most importantly: If you plan on targeting Muskie then I suggest you do a lot more reading and research...I would also suggest joining a Muskie Club such as Muskies Canada so you can educate yourself a bit more..

    http://www.muskiescanada.ca/

I guess the first few you caught were perfect catch and release specimens too eh Troutnmuskiehunter?

Not once in your post did you congratulate your fellow fisherman for catching such a nice fish.

I for one came on this site to learn and share my experience with others, not just blow people out of

the water with your so called awesome experience.

"sandwich a negative comment between two positive comments" and you will go a lot further here.

  10. WOW! What a way to break the cherry! My first musky was about 1/2 a pound.lol

I'm thinking it may have felt like 40 minutes, but I doubt it took you that long to bring it in, and it sounds like it swam away nicely.

Sounds like you have done your research and the musky guys are just trying to give you a heads up in the right direction.

Anyways congrats on your first musky, she's a beauty and thanks for sharing!

    Well said Johnny Bass.

  11. I just checked my 08 Legend and the hull was made by Starcraft :thumbsup_anim: Funny how I have never read it and I love starcraft boats.

    Hey Dan

Yeah, I like Starcraft as well and I also think highly of Smoker Craft.

Our neighbor at the cottage had a small aluminum Smoker Craft

for as long as I can remember and it was a great little boat.

Maybe I should ask for more money. lol

    Very nice fish!!

    Congratulations.

How wide is your boat, just to get an idea of length?

  13. The boat that I am trying to sell had Legend on it when I bought it and now that I am selling it,

I was asked for some capacity info for the boat and I went to the capacity plate.

The plate P1010468 (Large).JPGsays that the Manufacturer is Smoker Craft out of New Paris, IN.

I am a little confused, is it a Legend or a Smoker...

  14. Tried to download, but got a pop-up saying that it was not compatible with the Home Premium version of Vista, on my computer

Hey floatman55 I have been running it on Windows XP for some time now, I guess it is not meant to be run on Vista.

Maybe they have a program that does the same thing over at the Vista site.

  15. Myself and everyone I fish with have always referred to Scugog as the "bog" or "Scubog" and it was a given that it was referring to the whole lake.

So in my eyes he did in fact say fishing was hot on Scugog and was not being location specific.

And for the record. I fished the bog Thursday and Saturday. And did good. I even got a nice 3.5-4LB largie yesterday. I was considering posting a picture JUST to give a few people who have there panties on too tight and nothing better to do, something to whizz and moan about :whistling:

:tease::rofl2: Hey crappieperchhunter, it really does suck that we have so many bozos on this site.

Glad to hear you did well on the "bog".

I might get back out in the next couple of days, I hope they are still hot.

    Stan

  16. I totally agree...have a members only forum!!!!!

When they are trying to become a member they should have to contribute 15 or twenty posts before actually being able to view the members only forum.

A lot of them will give up at this point if they are just looking for a spot to fish that day.
