  1. Frig, I am way to slow on this, lol...
  2. Email sent. I cannot wait to try the K-9 for the pike opener in May!! Thanks again Ryan!
  3. My dad used to bring 'beer balls' when we'd go to the park. 2-3 gallons of Old Mill never hurt anyone The only thing we ever caught in Opeongo was Lake trout (This was 15+ years ago), we'd spend most of our day fishing the little river off Annie's Bay for brookies. The island we always stayed on was just outside of Annie's Bay. It was extremely small, not even an acre in size...
  4. I want in!! lol K-9 sounds like fun.
  5. I am sick of playing with my Ariens snowblower, I'd rather be playing with my fishing rod!!! +1 for Barrie not being on that list
  6. I don't think you can beat places like Six Foot Bay on Buckhorn Lake.. All kinds of stuff for the kids to do, close to town, etc etc.
  7. We used to camp out on an island on Lake Opeongo when I was a kid. Had a moose and her calf swim over to the island one night. That was a sight to see!
  8. In order to enter, you should have to take a pic of the fish, with your forum username and a peice of paper the time/date Anyone could make up measurements if they want. I am sure there are a few people on that list that just wanted to see their name on the internet, lol!
  9. Thanks for reminding me to pick up some Gulp baits!!! The look on that boxers face is priceless.
  10. That ice looks scary.
  11. I use a bass rig with 20lb braid and a decent leader. Shimano Citica 100DSV and a Clarus 7' MH rod. Had no issues with the fish in my avatar (25lb range)
  12. Seeing that pickeral fishing out on Erie is a bit different then anywhere else, I would name the boat. 10 Miles Out.
  13. Ouch! You didn't have a pair of needle nose pliers handy? You could have taken care of that tooth on the lake!
  14. Thanks Irish, it's actually right on my way home from work
  15. JB's? Never heard of it.
  16. Rod, you rock man! That will do the trick nicely. My poor dad with all these electronics in front of him, it's going to be priceless!!!
  17. I think I'll be hitting Sparrow lake with the oldman for opening of pickeral. My oldman and I hit Hay Bay a few times when I was younger, and saw 60+ fish days.... Nothing huge (4-5lbs the biggest) but it was non-stop action.
  18. I'm thinking Moon River, Byng inlet or 12 Mile Bay for opening day... Unless some of the Georgian Bay pro's can tell me somewhere else I should be concentrating my efforts.. I'm really thinking of selling my oldmans Humminbird 747c I picked up for him last year and get a model that does chartplotting + sonar (595c, 757c etc) Would make running out and around the bay quite a bit less stressful.
  19. My next purchase is going to be some chloroform and some rags.. You know, so I can kidnap one of the local muskie experts for opening day :)
  20. Yeah, insanity!! I picked up a Abu Garcia RCN60 brand new for $107US.. Can't complain about that.. Hopefully I can pick up a rod at the Sportsmen show, maybe a Shimano Compre 8' or something similar.
  21. The Morrum I had my eye on went for $243US... I settled for the Record instead, lol.
  22. I'll be down in Dunedin first 2 weeks of April. Hopefully get some shore fishing done for some redfish, sea trout and maybe if I'm lucky enough a few jacks and pomps.
  23. That commercial kills me everytime I see it!!!
  24. Hrm, a $10 fishing lure, or $20 spool of line? Probably not.. $100 vest? that cashier is going to get a strip ripped off her for being $100 under on her till. I'd bring it back, but that's just me.
  25. Just gotta practice... If you are backlashing, and the brake is set decently you are probably just trying to cast the bait to far. I know anytime I try to really musle a cast, 2 out of 10 times I'll get a back lash.. I only thumb the spool when the bait is about to hit the water (If I want it to land a bit shorter) but when you are just learning, you can thumb the spool the entire time. You wont be launching baits this way, but you'll get the hang of it. I have my right hand on the reel (obviously) and my left down near the butt of the rod. Gives a good pendulum motion when making a cast, kinda like a golf swing. It's like riding a bike.. One time you'll just 'get it' and you won't even think about it anymore.
