  1. Forget where you have to go, but I do know it makes it much easier if you get a bill of sale for the cost of the hull, trailer, and motor (it can be on 1 paper, just separate prices for each). As for the number its just a piece of paper stating your boat id number. Whatever number is on that paper has to be on your hull.

  2. The post states he fishes every morning and evening. Im not hating on him for being succesful, its just the greed of some people is unreal. Especially people who keep more fish than they will actually eat. Ill bring a few fish for my grandfather from time to time because he likes to eat them, but I wont feed the town just because I can catch them.

  3. Maybe the fish were just biting light, and you were setting the hook too soon. Did you check if your hooks are sharp? If your drag is peeling out when you set the hook then it is too loose in my opinion, unless you set the hook like a mad man. I like to keep my drag fairly tight, and I use primarily 10lb power pro. With the ugly stick I think Cudz is referring to the sensitivity of the rod.

  4. Also, I do see many people have strong opinions on fishing in this forum...I was wondering do you guys see fishing at a conservation area like fishing in a fish tank? or do you consider it the same as going out to a regular lake/pond that is not maintained?

Fishing is fishing as long as the season is open. Wet a line where ever you please :Gonefishing:

  5. Yep. I want to catch them again.

We have a guy here in town that fishes every morning, every evening. He targets 'eyes, but takes bass as well. I see him walking down the street with 3-4 really quality fish on his stringer all the time. I also here him complaining that the fishing isn't "as good as it used to be". <_<

Unless this guy and his family eat fish everyday, he is definetely over the POSESSION limit in his freezer (if he is keeping this many fish everyday). People always forget that the limit is posession and not daily. Maybe you need to remind/educate him of this!

  6. I use one deep deep cycle for everything. Motor, fishfinder, trolling motor, bilge, lights. I head out sometimes and use the trolling motor for 3-4 hours straight and never have a problem. This is not the proper way to do it, but I don't want the excess weight on the boat from having 2 batteries.

  7. Thats what I would have said 4 to five hours .

I can get about 9 hours out of my minnkota 55lbs of thrust(on a 16 foot Lund Classic) I troll with a Honda 2hp in the rear my bow mount on just enough to keep the boat straight at all times such a wonderful combination when trolling in 2 foot chop the boat stays on course.

I would try the new optima batteries the blue ones which look like a 6 pack of cans of pop.My cousin runs these new batteries on his 17 foot boat he swears they last much longer. When I will need another batterie I will give these a try for now I have 2 good batteries.

    MTP

For a 220+$ battery they sure as hell better last longer

  8. Talk to the locals and see what they use, and ask what depth range has produced for them. Should be some people on here too that have fished that lake that can give you some advice. Or take the easy way out and follow people around :o and if they say something tell them they are in YOUR spot..... j/k.

  9. What about size? When I fish the kawarthas I seem to only get into 12-14inch walleye. Using worms or jigs and even trolling cranks.

Is there a trick to getting some bigger fish? i.e. bigger minnows, twisters etc? Need to go deeper?

Your chances of catching bigger fish will be greater if you use bigger lures. Big ones are caught accidently on muskie lures. Don't expect to do as well though, it will take alot of patience. That is not to say you can't catch big ones on a jig and worm. My pb (27") came on a jig and worm at noon. If your fishing to eat them, why would you want to catch the bigger ones anyways though?

I have personally caught a few 4-5lb pickerel on the kawarthas on jig and worm, and have seen a 10lber caught on an erie derie and worm. It comes down to being at the right place at the right time for any big fish in my opinion. Persistance is the name of the game!

  10. Solo:

I loved your post and got quite a vicarious kick out of it. I understand completely why you didn't divulge location, and it makes more sense now as I read the outfitter's e-mail. Ontario is a huge, wonderful place full of honey holes. I've found a few and had a few days like you had recently, and I hope to find some more. And it makes it all the sweeter when you find them yourself.

Get ready to be bombarded via PM

  11. I have used Glen Echo in the past to camp, but they do have cabins as well. They are also located along lighthouse rd. I have been here a few times, and from what they say, the muskie you really have to motor out quite far to get into them. There are members from this board in that area, I'm sure they could give you more insight on that.
