  1. I have just tired using this set up recently myself. I found the best thing for me was to buy the hooks specifically made for drop-shotting. Made things alot more easier. Question, what is this line twist that everyone is talking about because i have never had a problem. Thanks Sean
  2. Just wondering if the publishers of the book paid you for that pictiure? Also if the pike was attacking the walleye, then the author misrepresented the picture. He suggested that both fish were hitting the lure. Either way it is still a great book. Cant remember the title off hand though. Sean
  3. This was your picture of a pike and walleye on the same lure? I have seen it before in a fishing book i bought. The picture was used to illustrate the effectivness of crank baits. Was the pike actually hitting the walleye? Sean
  4. I had a great week of fishing on crystal lake at the begining of july. Lots of small mouths. Most were between 15 and 16 in. I used the map that you can download off the crystal lake cottagers association website. The marina is small and charges for the use of the boat launch. There is a public boat launch by the dam. There is tons of off shore structure to fish, however i only really had any luck at dusk and dawn at these locations. I had trouble locating fish during the day in the hot sun. The closest bait shop is in Kinmount. It is really small and only sells worms. For bait and tackle you will have to go into Bobcaygon, which i found to be about a 25 minute drive from the lake. Good Luck. Sean
  5. I will be getting the opportunity to fish Lake of Bays this weekend. I hear that it's small mouth territory. Considering the recent high temperatures, i was thinking deep and slow. Any lake specific or species specific tips? Thanks Sean.
  6. I havnt had any luck in the Toronto area shore fishing this past month. Planning on trying the islands soon myself. Best of luck. Sean
  7. Are you sure it's just in the Kawarthas? Ive seen a few large dead carp at Rouge Beach Park. Come to think of it, the place is sort of a catfish pond, which would fit with what John was saying. Sean
  8. Thanks again. I will be trying the islands very soon. Sean
  9. WOW! I must have spent close to ten hours on that pond this week and not even a bite. Just proves to me that i have alot to learn. Sean.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions! I was really starting to get fustrated. I always do try the worm and a bobber, and i do catch the rare pan fish that way. I have always enjoyed fishing but usually only get to go once a year when the family rents a cottage for a week. This year I became addicted after a great week of catching small mouths on crystal lake just north of Bobcaygon. Several around 15 and 16 inches. I couldnt wait another year to get my fishing fix. I started doing research on the Toronto area fishing holes and found the list put out by the ministry. I have hit 3 or 4 of these spots with no luck. The shore line is often lined with other fishmen/ women, but i never see anyone catching anything. I figgered the fishing would be tough due to the extreme fishing pressure these urban locations are under, but i didn't think it would be this tough. These fish must have seen every lure under the sun. I guess my next attempt will have to be the Toronto Islands. Seems like the best bet. I cant lie though, even though i havnt caught much, i have enjoyed every minute. Sean
  11. Hello Everyone, I am a beginer fisherman who has recently been bitten by the fishing bug. I dont have a boat so I have been fishing from the shore in some of the areas around Toronto. I have tried Bluffers Park, Grenadier Pond, and Heart Lake. I have tried mornings and evenings. I have tried lures and live bait. Nothing seems to work. I am begining to think that the summer season is just not that good for shore fishing in the Toronto area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sean.
