  1. 34 lbs caught on chesapeake bay... that's my pb striped bass LOL as for LMB, this was my PB, that I estimate between 5-6, it was 21" http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=14502
  2. i agree smallmouth bass are good eating, but not fond of largemouth.... I think the fact they spend a lot of time in warm, shallow water affects the taste somehow
  3. Beauty 'eye you nailed there, I'm guess you must have been in the east part of the lake. I have fished Baptiste 6-7 times over the years and seen nothing but pike (tons of them), bass (LM/SM), muskie (once) and panfish. Never a Walleye, though I knew they were in there as they had been stocked in the past. I have focused more on the central/west part of the lake, and havent hit the east end of it yet. All in all, its a gorgeous place to spend some time out on the water even when the bite isnt on! I personally love walking a suick jerkbait across the surface on a calm evening in dog bay over the sunken logs. There are always agressive pike ready to ambush!
  4. that's a horse!!!! nice fish! Erie is a great place for lunker smallies, im jealous of guys that can fish there regularily!
  5. You can also snag salmon casting off the pier, not just "flossing" but I guess its less intentional. More than a couple times of Port Credit, I've "lined" a salmon, but the hook was never set and after a brief thrashing on the surface they swam off.
  6. If people could bring big gill nets to the river and dredge anything swimming out of it they would....i think flossing is at least a smaller problem for the ministry to manage. Though I do believe if they catch anyone intentionally snagging a fish they will be fined. Guess with flossing its harder to prove.
  7. letting the current float your line into the mouth of a salmon that is stationary in the river with it's mouth open, when you pull on the line you can hook the salmon in the mouth, but its really snagging as the salmon is not feeding.
  8. Well I would be interested in this too, if it meant I could go to an auction and pick up high quality gear for pennies on the dollar. However, I doubt too many people that spend big bucks on equipment fish illegally, I'm sure most of the stuff they seize is garbage anyways.
  9. thanks for the comments guys! not sure if the pics show it, but it was a very old and weathered looking fish, maybe 20 years old (if they get that old!)... probably one of the main breeders in the lake over the last few years (small lake)....anyhow im glad its still swimming and hopefully has another couple spawning seasons left in it!
  10. That is a BEAST by any standards!! Nice fish!
  11. I was out fishing a small backwoods lake in hastings county on sunday, and this bass hit a spro topwater frog bait around 9AM. Fish didnt fight as hard as some of the 3-4lbers ive pulled from this lake and looked old and tired. Unfortunately I didn't have a scale handy and wanted to get it back in the water and swimming asap so I just marked my boat on its length, and later got it at just slightly over 21". Biggest fish I have weighed out of this lake I caught a couple years ago at 5lbs 4oz, and I'm sure this one was bigger, wish I knew though! As a frame of reference im over 6'3". Forgive the lousy Iphone pics!
  12. ive heard the walleye population in baptiste is really depleted, and only survives due to the stocking program?
  13. Does anyone know where my best bet would be to go somewhere around Bancroft or Apsley Ontario to catch Walleye? Not looking for anything huge, just somewhere with decent numbers? I know this is mainly a bass area of ontario, but wondering if there is something around a 1 hour drive from that area? I used to fishing the east end of the kawarthas (Stoney Lake) and found that it was really heavily overfished... Any thoughts?
  14. you didn't have a leader on did you? I always wondered how braids stand up to muskie/pike teeth... perhaps since it was 65lb it's a bit harder to cut through? opinions? I use 14lb fireline for bass bass fishing and whenever I get to co-incidental pike, more than half of them cut me off...
