  1. if your using a vertical presentation make sure too lay it on the bottom still for a few seconds. you rarely feel the intitial bite just a tight line and set the hook. good luck!
  2. the key, i find, when jigging for walleye (or small mouth) is get the bait to the bottom. let it sit still every now and then, almost with slack line. when you slowly tighten your line, you will feel weight or not. if the weight is there set the hook or let it take it for a bit then set the hook. i try not to use leaders for walleye, but the amount of pike and muskie may determine that. hope that helps, it works! as for line i try to use as thin as the structure and teeth will allow. (usually 6lbs or 8lb)
  3. tom is a good guy! he was very ill when we were there. very reasonable prices too!
  4. i fished there during that hot spell last week. may30th until june 2nd. i caught about ten walleyes, the biggest was 21.5 inches. had a few nice following pike but they wouldn't hit. most walleye were caught on pink worm harnesses. stayed at parolins cottages. surface temp was 72 degrees in places, seemed a little high for this time of year. caught millions of rock bass, another sign it may have warmed up already. did see a boat trolling past catch a very nice walleye, just over 4kgs (8.8lbs) on their scale. i think it would have been better even if we just had wind. only took a few pictures, nothing to write home about.
  5. i've been to bisco a bunch of times. what end of the lake or where are you staying (town or outpost)? i'll help, just i may be able to give you some good info. depending on where you are staying. walleye and pike are not huge but very plentiful. fire tiger and blue with white or silver bellies can work. you may have to play with sizes. there is no minnow base for that lake so sometimes downsizing is the key. warm harness, worm and hook or jig and minnow all work well, but i would rather catch them on artificials.
