  1. Nothing like just backing up ,and unpacking at the lodge.

Ya, but I tried to tell my dad to pull it forward a bit before the 3 feet of snow on the roof decided it had melted enough to come roaring down...about 30 minutes after the fire was on:

Not sure who owned the plate, i'm assuming the camp was formed back in 69. The two owners are friends of the family which is nice.

  2. I haven't posted in a while, so I thought i'd share some shots I took this past week up the camp I go hunting at on Manatoulin Island. There will be no dead animal pictures, since we got skunked! But lots of snow!

  3. DanC has given some good pointers. They are all things I learned this past year. I just started getting into photography exactly one year ago and it is a steep learning curve, almost every picture I take I look at a few days later and find things I might have been able to improve. I have noticed a huge progression in my photos but I am years away from being a good photographer, but it sure is fun and challenging.

Maybe someday we should hook up and snap some shots together, i'm sure we could learn alot.

  4. I wanted to get my wife out fishing a couple times this year to keep her interested, hoping she could land a big bass or two. Getting her out was the tough part but her catching big bass was too easy, she out did me in the few times she went with some monster bass. Also wanted to try new water and take as many friends out as I could, both of which I got to do and hopefully next year I will even more.

  5. I don't think I ever shared my entry into the wfn adopt an angler contest on here. It took me until near the end of the contest to get it finished so I wasn't even close int he running for secondary prizes based on online voting. But I held out and waited, waited waited...until they finally announced the winner. And it wasn't me... The winner was from Woodstock, maybe he's a member on here.

Anyway, I meant to share this earlier but kept forgetting. Here's my entry, even though I didn't win it sure was fun to make.

  6. I spent this past weekend up at a camp near Parry Sound. I had never been there before and didn't really know what to expect fishing wise. I figured it would be smallmouth and pike mostly as the lake seemed fairly deep along the shorelines. I managed to get a canoe for a few hours so me and a friend went out for an hour or so just around the camp. First couple casts I got this nice largemouth off a submerged tree on a spinnerbait. My scale said she was right on 5 pounds, she was a fatty.

My friend got a nice 3 pound smallmouth off the same tree and it was his first bass so he was pretty pumped. That was all the fishing I got in for the weekend, but i'm glad I went out. And I would love to fish that area more, what a beautiful place this time of year.

  7. Currently in the process of getting a new vehicle. I was looking at all wheel drives but found a front wheel drive small suv that I can get a significant deal on. I know i'm not going to have nearly the traction of all wheel drive for pulling the boat out, but for those who do tow with front wheel drive do you find it causes lots of ramp headaches? For the near future I am only going to be towing something really small anyways (500-750 lbs), but in a couple years that may change. I don't think i'll ever have a boat that will cause me to break the 2000 lb mark. I have a feeling with my little boat I will be fine in most cases, and just have to pick my ramps wisely.

    Any input is appreciated.

  8. Saturday I decided to stay close to home and try Belwood Lake. I had fished it once before but only for a short time. I was planning on doing some exploring but it was pretty windy so I ended up fishing a bay that was a bit more protected from the wind and didn't leave since we were getting steady fish, and I brought a friend who doesn't get out much so he was loving it. We probably got about a dozen smallies like the one below and about a dozen pike. Most of the pike were small but 3 were decent, not huge but big enough to pull back. We only got a couple of the smallies on tubes and the rest were smashing crankbaits which was fun. I was impressed with the number of fish we caught and a couple of the bass were pretty good size (low batteries in the camera = no proof of those ones). Here was an average bass for the day...
