  1. I noticed this weekend that the inside of the rim on one side of my trailer is getting some grease on it and that the hub was slightly warm after trailering for a while. So I think its time to replace the bearings. This will be the first time replacing the bearings on this trailer for me as i've only had it for a little while. I am a bit concerned about whether I can get the proper bearings for it because the axle is different from most I see. Most axles I see are a single bar and the hub and bearing goes over the stop on the end of the axle. This axle has two bars that are connected to a plate at the end, the plate has a hole in the middle of it with a cylinder through it. The hub then goes into this cylinder. Not sure if my explanation will help, i'm trying my best to describe it. Basically when you look at the hub spinning from the inside it looks like it is just sitting in this cylinder. It doesn't look like there is any stub for the hub to go on.

Does this make sense? Has anyone seen this kind of axle/hub system before? Can I just use normal bearings for this?

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Great fish!!! Nice job. Is there a fee to fish at Island Lake?? Also, can you get that kind of action by fishing off the shore??

Ya there is since its a conservation area. I believe its like $4.50 a person or something like that and then there was also a launch fee. I have never fished from shore and wherever I have caught fish has been off shore a bit, so I can't really help with that. I would say give it a try there is some access, but I think it gets pretty busy on weekends.

  3. One time when I was young my dad and I were fishing from a canoe. He snagged an underwater branch, when we got over to it we both took a peak to see how bad the snag was, next thing you know we were in the water. It happens so fast. Lickily we had out tackle boxes closed and tied to the canoe and neither of us dropped our rods, but I could see it becoming a very costly experience. You'll look back and laugh, but it sure aint fun at the time!

  4. What were you guys using for lures/bait?

All the fish were caught using senkos. Tried a couple of things but this ended up being what they wanted. The interesting thing is that all the fish were caught while a certain group was playing on the ipod...everytime they came on we caught a fish. Thats the secret I won't share :P.

  5. My wife and I went over to Island Lake this weekend and as usual it was a fun day of fishing with a good amount of bass. Most of the bass are around the 1.5-2 pound mark but they still make for a fun day. We did get one nice one though.

I started the day off with a decent 2 pounder.

Then my wife when on a catching spree.

This catching spree included the biggest of the day which weighed in right on 3.5 pounds. She was happy to finally catch some fish this year let alone a nice one like this.

She was so happy about catching all these fish she gave this one a smootch.

I felt left out so I decided to give my next fish a smooch as well.

And finally I caught another little guy, not as impressive as my wife's day though!

you must have been a mime in your other life!

When I was a kid I was smiling and got smacked really hard in the back of the head...now my face is frozen like that. :D

I'll try to change it up a bit for you next time. Hopefully i'll have another report with more facial expressions in a few days :thumbsup_anim:

  7. I have been meaning to get out onto Guelph Lake for some time now. I have fished it for shore before and caught a couple little fish. I finally had a half day to fish somewhere close to home so decided to get out on Guelph Lake since the winds were nice. I found it to be a pretty big lake for only allowing electric trolling motors, I worked my way all the way down one shore and ended up taking about 40 minutes to get back to the launch since the wind had picked up. We lost a couple nice fish but managed to boat 3 bass, all of which weighed in right on 3 pounds.

  8. My wife and I want to go fishing for a couple days next weekend somewhere...not sure where though...

Most likely we will be fishing Monday and Tuesday (driving up Monday morning). So I was thinking of trying to find a place to stay sort of central to the Kawarthas and pick which lakes we will fished based on wind etc. I know the Monday it will be a zoo anywhere, but the tuesday should be nice.

Anyway, has anyone ever stayed in Bobcaygeon or anywhere in the area for that matter and can recommend a place?

Also, if you have any other ideas for a 2 day fishing trip i'm open. Don't want to go too far though.

    Thanks!

    Evan

  9. If its buckets you want fish the Rankin System near sauble. Boat/Sky and Issac lakes. Good Buckets in them.

Are those the lakes just north of Sauble?

I'll keep that in mind, but I think we only have about 3 or 4 hours so I want to stay as close to their house as possible. And I think my bro wants to try Chesley out anyway. Thanks for the tips.

  10. I have heard a couple people mention Chesley Lake on here when the topic of fishing in the Grey/Bruce area comes up. My sister and brother-in-law just moved to Southampton and i'm going to be up there next weekend and want to do some fishing close by for a few hours. Does anyone know where to launch on this lake? I'm going to have him go check it out ahead of time but we aren't really sure where to start. I used google maps and it kind of looks like there might be a launch at the north end at the end of Course Road, can anyone confirm?

    Thanks!

  11. Now were having problems getting out trailer up there...Our driver had a different power hook up than the one we have(Circle thing with 6 holes)...Now were running around asking friends and family to bring it up for us...

UGH-When things were going well this had to happen.

    I Will BASS FISH TOMORROW!

If you mean the truck you want to plug into has the round one and your trailer has the flat 4, then just go to any autoparts store or canadian tire and get an adapter. I think they're only like $10 or something like that if I remember correctly.
