  1. My friend has one, it works ok on ice as long as there isn't a flasher too close. He used his on Simcoe and worked fine. But when we were in a hut the next time and I brought my flasher, his sonar was useless. The flasher was horribly interfering with the sonar. Not sure how close you could have it to a flasher before it becomes affected.

Ya... its all fun and games until your friend brings a flasher to the hut that is equiped with "interference rejection" technology. :whistling:

  2. 2x2's or hockey sticks nailed or screwed together in "T" fashion. Duct tape the transducer to the bottom of the T and you are good to go. Sounds stupid but works fine and is easily made from materials lying around. Can be made in less than 5 mins.

Just make sure the transducer and the bracket are sitting level.

  3. I have the two man version... paid 89 bucks for it.

You get what you pay for... The chair broke first outing. There is very little room to fish. There is small holes in the canopy where the stitching is. The canopy dosent quite hit the ground. It looks like it should be a foot longer.

Anyway its all ive got now so it will have to do. Theres no new ice shelter in the future for me.

Edit: It comes with 4 "ice screws" that work pretty good. They anchor the chairs to the ice and hey screw in suprisingly well.

  4. As a buyer I have never been charged a fee for a transaction. You also don't have to hook your paypal to your bank account it is only if you want to be a VERIFIED account holder which is optional. I like it because it does not expose your credit card information to the internet or the seller so it is not floating in cyberspace. Since I am stating this from having an account in the USA I am Not sure if Canadians have a separate rule since their is a border between us.

Im not sure what you mean. If you use your credit card through paypal it is just as much exposed as any other transaction.

According to PayPal accepting their ToS (Terms of Service) in effect means you waive your rights to credit card consumer protection laws if you want to use their service, and that you may not issue a chargeback for unauthorized use of your credit card and PayPal account, or if you do, then they have the right to limit your account.

  5. Sorry, my mistake. You do not get charged 3% per transaction. Shows how much I use my paypal account.

I pay my visa transactions off the day I make them. I never wait for the bill and I never buy anything if I dont have the funds to transfer from my bank account.

  6. I avoid using my paypal if i can, heres why.

paypal links directly to your bank account. I dont feel good about that.

It takes a very long time to get money back from paypal if it is owed to you. I have been through the process and it took 7 months to see my 80 bucks again. And there is a no guarantee that you will be re-imbursed.

Paypal fees. Why be charged 3% per transaction when you could just use your credit card.

I only use my paypal account when I am sure of the company that I am buying from, that means that I have used them before. So, why use paypal to buy things over the internet when you can just use your credit card? If the deal goes sour then its a simple matter of a phone call to visa, and a chargeback is initiated. One dispute, rather than two.

I have bought many things over the internet and I have been burned twice. Once was through paypal, the other was with my credit card. Both times I got my money back. In your case, I would say you are pretty safe dealing with the company mentioned, just consider any future transactions with paypal carefully.

use your credit card if you can. Its safer.

  7. I got an idea.....why don't we just ban everything in the world and all live virtual lives on our computer....that way, nobody in the world will ever get hurt, offended, outraged, angered, etc. :blahblah1::blahblah1::blahblah1: ......ban, ban, ban......BAN

I think the word ban should be banned.

That sounds like a plan. If it offends you, or might be dangerous, lets censor it.

That way we will all be safe.

  8. Good god it hasent rained here in sw ontario for weeks. It sprinkled a bit yesterday but nothing substansal.

I cant handle another repeat of last year, or even the year before for that matter. I hate seeing creeks running almost dry and large rivers like the Thames and the Maitland running at pitiful levels.

Farmers need rain to get these grains growing that the world is in such a high demand for. Heres hoping we get rain, and lots of it soon.

  9. I think what Clampit is means is that any knife will do as long as it is razor sharp. I could fillet a fish with a piece of flint if its sharp enough.

Some people like different handle materials, It makes their knife unique and more valuable to them. Just because there are cheaper methods of putting handles on knives dosent mean that you shouldnt buy it. I mean, you "could" put a piece of pine on there but I also like stag bone, desert iornwood, kraton, leather, g10 or micarta. It makes the knife more visually apealing.

I mean, just beacuse there are cheaper methods dosent mean it should be the standard.

  10. thats a big one for sure but your elbows are pretty straight meaning your pushing that fish in the cameras face :) nice one though i got a 26lb way upstream in ganny land. my cousin a couple years ago got about a 25lb out of b-ville took forever on 4lb line lol!

Hmmm... not sure you read the post entirely before you commented.

  11. But seriously tho, MISFISH hit the nail square on the head, I would add some pieces of real bacon perhaps. Fresh sage and rosemary can work with or in place of savory.

I will take a small 1.5-2 kg bird and stick a whole lemon in it that I have boiled and poked with a knife a few times.

Or there is always the beer can bbq method.
