I cant think of the name now (DOH)... It was just as I was entering into Long Point and I seen the sign $10. I was itchin to hit the water so we jumped on it. Thanks for the advice

Well I launched out of longpoint and we were not disapointed. Our day started at 6:30 where we took off from Brantford and ended up in the water just after 8:00a.m. It was already getting HOT The day started on the first drift with a nice 3.7lb bucket mouth on a carolina rig set up. A couple more drifts with only small dink size perch. So we decided to head over to bait island EC6 I was amaized at the amount of boat traffic there on a tuesday morning. I must have seen 50+ boats all fishing bass. We watched numerous people catching fish. I wasnt having the same luck. We changed our set up to Mepp's silver #3, #4, #5 and the action kicked off for a couple more quick fish. 2:00 it was time for a swim in the cold Erie waters (that didnt last very long). Then back to our original drift near our launch point. We wouldnt you know it the Pike were in and hitting hard. A couple nice 35" and 32" fish were caught my buddy Pete and we called it a day. My first experience fishing the Inner Bay of Erie on my own was a great time and a great success. Looking forward to more challenges.

What is a good spot to test the new / used boat
Fly Me In Scotty replied to Fly Me In Scotty's topic in General Discussion
Erie was my first thought. I am a little nervous because neither of us have handled a boat in large water or a boat this large as of yet. We plan on doing our boaters exam in the next couple of weeks. I will pick up the book and start reading this week-end. Thanks again, -
My father purchased a used 17' console fishing boat package. 50hp on the main motor and 15h.p. kicker motor. I am in heaven! We plan on testing this baby out this week-end for a few hours and wonder where the best place to take it out for a few hours of testing and a few hours of fishing? I live in Brantford and am willing to travel within an hour or so in any direction. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Side question being this is his first boat... any items or tips on operation or items which should be brought with us on this adventure? He has a VHF radio and antenna - what channels do I need to know and keep stored for him in case of emergency? Thanks in advance Chris

Motor Recomends for my new canoe..
Fly Me In Scotty replied to Black_Blade's topic in General Discussion
I have a 40# Maxxum Minn Kota on the back of my 17' coleman square back. I mounted the swivel seats on and took it out to Guelph Lake. I am very happy with the entire outfit right now. It is heavy with the battery and I know I wouldnt be portaging anywhere with that set up. Down the line a small 2hp would be nice but for now I am on the water and happy. -
best of luck! I am looking forward to throwing my first line of 2007 out sunday morning
-
Thanks Jedi! I will be getting the map at the gate. Hope to have a good report on monday morning

Going to Guelph Lake for Pike sunday morning. I have never been before, soooooooo............... Any tips / suggestions, things to watch out for? Is it a decent Lake? Specific tackle suggestions? Would I be better off hitting Bellwood? I will be fishing my scanoe with a 40# Maxxum trolling motor. Appreciate any feedback. Chris

Motor Recomends for my new canoe..
Fly Me In Scotty replied to Black_Blade's topic in General Discussion
JediAngler, Thanks for the tip. This is a great idea and I plan on doing the same. I also plan on putting in the comfortable seats with the quick release to make sure I can withstand a full day on the water. Great thread. It does sound like i also will be looking long term for a small outboard for diversity. Has anyone done a canopy of sorts for their rig on this board? -

This is great. I also am planning on modifying my RAMX scanoe along the same lines. I am going for the electric as well so I can have the option to use in some of the conservation area's. When I am done I will try to add a few pictures to show you what we have created. Have you done anything else to modify your canoe?
