I use an isolation unit from CTC. (Often used in RVs) It allows me to charge both batteries off of the motor while keeping them isolated from each other. In this fashion I am sure that my starting battery will not be drained through the electrical system but will still be charged as I run up and down the lake.

Family fishing is defiantly a creation of the gods. I have been fishing with my best buddy (my son) for years. He has loved fishing since he was about four and now umpteen years later he still wants to get out on the water with dad as often as we can. Gotta love it

I once checked into the same thing. I found a nice pool with trout. The guy who owned the land told me I could not fish it, but since I seemed to be a nice guy he would let me stay for the morning. I called the ministry and was informed that if someone pays taxes on the land on both sides of water then he/she has the right to restrict access.

We were also out there today. What a fabulous day. Certainly better weather this year for the opening weekend of the Perch derby than it has been for a number of years.

There is a public – free launch (was last year at least) right across the street from Tudhope park. (Tudhope is Perch HQ and where you can get your tickets) It is a little confusing to get to the launch the first time. Go straight out of the driveway from the park and continue down the road. On your left a kilometer or so you will see a sign for the boat launch. You will then drive a kilometer or so through a residential neighborhood to the launch. Parking at the launch is limited to a few trucks and trailers, but you can park at Tudhope. Last year the OPP were checking all boats for safety gear when I launched one morning so be prepaid for that. Good luck, may see ya on the water Sunday

jedimaster: There is a free launch and free parking (last year anyways) right across from Perch HQ. There is limited parking at the launch but lots at the park where Perch HQ is or there is also a vacant lot kitty corner to the park. Good luck, may see you there on Sunday. Can anyone tell me if the ice is clear at the narrows? Will I be able to launch my boat from the public launch across from the arena? Thanks
