I lost a dear dear friend this week. All of a sudden, no warning, just gone. Not often you have a close friend that you golf with, hunt with, fish with. He was one of my greatest friends of all time. RIP Bob Loved ya. I post this, not for sympathy, please don't, but look at your close friends and realize tomorrow you could wake up and they're gone.

Was talking to a guy on here about his first trip to the Dumoine in Quebec. Can't remember his on line name. Just curious how his trip went. We went a second time just this past weekend. Fishing was the toughest I've ever seen in 35 years. We caught lots but way too many small ones. Still had a great time, two fish fries and brought home a bunch but it was the hardest I've ever had to work at it. I even went out in the mornings lol

Another great trip to 10 Mile Lodge It poured rain the day before we left to go up and the road was as bad as I've ever seen it, but while we were there it never rained at all. The winds were up so we had to pick and choose our spots. Like normal the fishing would turn on for an hour and then suddenly turn off. We caught about 300 walleye, nothing big, biggest was just over three pounds but lots in the 1.5 to 2 lbs range. No Pike thank goodness, did I tell you I HATE Pike! Lots of fun, no bugs except on the way up. The deer flies were horrendous but at camp there were none, just a few mosquitoes in the evening but not a big issue. Two fish fries, tried out my Lancaster Perch sauce on one meal and it went over big. Such a beautiful area, we were the only group on the lake, no other outpost camp had people at them so it was very quiet. Turns out Jim's Road was completely washed out so all the resources were there fixing the road so our road on the way out was no better.

Very little weeds in the Dumoine. However I took off about 50 years of fishing line when I replaced it. Thanks

Had to buy a new prop for my very old MinnKota electric. It doesn't fit flush up against the big bulb at the back like the old one. The old one wasn't sealed so I'm assuming it doesn't matter. I know I should just buy a new motor but I barely use it.

I had them fly in on a moose hunt. We were in a boat out on a lake and they dropped out of the sky like a rock. We could see them watching us with binoculars and they landed fairly close (not dangerously) to the boat. First thing he said was "Let's see your guns" "Sorry guys, we tagged out yesterday, all we got is fishing rods" "Let's see the life jackets, ok you're good" We had a long chat with them and away they went. Usually (not always, I've had a run-in) they are good guys and it didn't bother me at all.

I'll be heading in to 10 Mile Lodge in a week. First of two trips in this summer, another one in August. I'll do a report when I get out One of our lunches this trip we will use the Lancaster Perch Roll recipe but we are using walleye instead. Should be good.

Great to hear you had a good trip. Outpost camps are always a little more challenging but the solitude makes up for most challenges. Lots of fish and fish fries also make the trip Thanks

Ok, this may be long but. .. I've stayed at the main lodge, very comfy, full electrical including A/C and hot tub. If you like to fish Lake Trout (I don't) it's perfect. If you like Walleye and the odd Snake (Pike) Dumoine is where you want to be. The camps on Dumoine are very "rustic". Foam mattress beds, running water from a pumped up reservoir (disgusting). Outhouse, screened in porch. For me very comfortable. My favorite camps in order, Cedar Point, Moose Creek ( not always available) Park Line and Marion Bay (I won't go if that's all there is) Cedar Point is right in the middle of all the hot spots. Outpost camps have big coolers no fridge but they bring ice up whenever needed and they work fine, propane stove and bbq. 16' boats and I bring my own motor but he rents motors. The reason I like the outpost's is you walk out and your fishing, the main camps you've got a slow 9km drive to the boat and half an hour to get to the hot spots. Inclement weather makes it worse. All to say, I've been going for nearly 35 years, never came home without my limit and a few good feeds up there. Everyone I've brought, including my 7 year old son (now 32) caught fish and most say it's the best walleye fishing ever. I wrote a story in Fish Hunt and Ride about it and I stand by it. It's my go too. If you decide, let me know and I'll give up some hot spots.

Ok, I give up, what's DWR? I Have a Browning gortex suit for hunting, still keeps me dry, 20 years in, I wash it and dry it with high heat. I heard the drying activates the gortex but I'm all ears
