  1. Are you sure that Tribals aren't part of the sale? When i saw them at the Spring Fishing Show they were on the $199. Even then, the Techniums are sexy enough to make me drool (i only have a nexave).

I think both MJL and Photoz here on OFC has the stalker so maybe they can give you more insight on it. (i'm not too sure about photoz though)

    Good luck on your search!

  2. what wolfville said.

None of the above is necessary for carp fishing, but they do make it more fun for me. I question myself very often that wether I enjoy the bite alarm screaming more or landing a 20lb fish....

The point is to have fun and learn to respect the nature, with any equipment you deem necessary.

tonyb: not sure if you know this already but shimano aren’t bringing any more carp rods to Canadaso what’s left in the stores are the last batch. I believe the Tribals are $199 @ FW as all carp rods are half priced. (originally priced at $399)

From your rod pod post on CAG seems like you’ve decided to get the Horizon? I was look at that and the Prologic Tripod not too long ago. If you have trouble finding a place that carries them, try Big Carp Tackle (American carp society store). I exchanged a few emails with the manager asking about shipping, got pretty good customer service and the price seems to be reasonable.

  3. Finally there's something that i know and can help :)

There is actually quite a few tackle store aronud the area that carries carp gear, some of them has already been mentioned

    1) Fishing World in Hamilton

    2) FishOnLine

    3) Angling Specialties

    4) Fishing Sport near Bathrust/Finch (fellow OFC wolfville told me about)

And there are a few online ones, these are all N.A. stores as shipping from Europe is always expensive, just type it in google and you should be able to find their page.

    1) wackerbait

    2) scorpian tackle

    3) resistance tackle

    4) royal carp

    5) big carp tackle (online store ran by american carp society)

I've recently bought myself a carp setup and from my experiences, where to go depends on what you're looking for...

If you're looking for shimano rods i'd say check out fishing world, they have all their carp rods 50% off and from what i've been hearing they are amazing for the money (i own one but i haven't used it enough to be able to comment on it yet).

For rod pods, you might have to shop around for a bit as the tackle stores in and around GTA only carry Fox horizon, stalker and a nash one i think, not alot of option there.

As for alarms, eBay might be a good idea if you don't like the models they have here since alarms are light/small so they won't cost you alot for shipping.

If you need more help let me know, good luck!

  4. i hear ya bookoobeast. I'm sure you're not the only one here.

When i had to send in my university applications about two years ago, i posted on the old board to get some opinion from all the fellow board members as to what to apply for. Back in the day i had no idea what i wanted to do and everything in my head was ... fishing, fishing, and more fishing. I was disappointed when i found out that there's no university that offers fishing-ology, well the closest thing to it was Marine Biology at U of Guelph. Meanwhile i also applied to other things like Engineering, Math and Life Sci.

I don't think we can dig up the posts on the old board anymore but i got similar responses. Find a good daytime job that you enjoy which can support you financially and you can fish all you want when you're not at work. Knowing that i don't really like biology other than the fact that it's about fish, i took the advice and went with Civil Engineering (planning to specialize in Water resources/Stormwater management).

I'm now in my 2nd year and i am happy with everything so far. What i'm studying/doing is also somewhat related to fishing, all i need right now is to graduate, find a job, and get a boat :D.

I also daydream and play with my reels/fishing rods pretty much everyday. LOL. so don't worry, you are normal.

    It shouldn't be long now...

  5. Thanks just2manylures.

yup i think they are. That's why i'm going back to get some refund.

What i meant was that ... if someone bought something at BPS this past week it is a good idea to check the prices at lebaron because you might be able to get a refund depending on the item.

  6. Hi guys,

does anyone know what are the BPS in-store specials for the next few days?

I was there on sunday and the items on the flyer only goes to today (which is a fish bbq for 29.99 if memory serves me right).

I have to drop by BPS to get refund on some of the stuff that i bought because Lebaron has its no-tax sale this week and they offer price-matching; so i'm just trying to figure out which day would be the best.

Just a heads up to everyone, regardless of the biggest sale of the year at BPS there are some items that might be cheaper at lebarons since there's no tax.

    Thanks.

    Victor

  7. o man that sounded scary!

next time you can tie on a crankbait or something and cast somewhere .... maybe that will direct its attention somewhere else ... on top of that, you might not be skunked :D

    thanks for the report !
