  1. I'd be in for a couple especially if it helps to support the site.

Being a bit of a newb, if the idea has already been mentioned please disregard, what about an OFC Magazine to help support the site as well. Articles contributed by the members and published into a periodical might not be a bad idea. I know there is a ton of knowledge that is present on this board. Why not capitalize on it?

    we do have an e-magazine.

I'd be down for a few OFC lures too, only thing to consider is that it's probably alot of work for TJ to take care of the shipping ... :dunno:

  2. The best way to anchor a canoe is to use two anchors. They don't have to be heavy....mushrooms are ok. Never anchor from the side of a canoe. Use one anchor at the stern and the other at the bow both secured with quick release knots to be able to break-away should you get unexpected waves.

    I 2nd that. troutologist's idea's pretty good too.

  3. i was camping at Grundy Lake PP 2-3 summers ago and fishing sucked for me ... I didn't venture out onto any back lakes and I only stayed at one side of the lake (who knows, maybe I was just fishing the wrong side) ... I went out on the canoe by myself and fished about ... 8-9 hours I'd say ... caught 2 hammer handles.

I did hook into a big one though (30+ for sure and it's considered big for that lake), but lost it on a bad hookset, spinnerbait popped out within like 15 seconds.

    Good luck though!

  4. I'm not really sure whether you will see alot of carp stuff at the sportsman show. I went to the Spring Fishing Show 3 weeks ago and there was litttle to none ... only Natural sport (it was either Natural sport or JB, not exactly sure) had a couple of Technium rods (2.5-3lb TC) there for $150.

It's probably a better idea to pay a visit to the Hamilton area.

  5. the largemouth is very common is asian supermarkets (they call them green bass) and I believe that's legal since I've seen them there all the time, and in every supermarket.

However I have not seen a smallie in one of those tanks ever (yes, I do go and stare at the tank, especially when cabin fever really hits lol). I do find THAT a bit strange.

  6. Welcome aboard Ben.

There are many species in and around the urban areas of Toronto you can target, here's a link to a document from the ontario ministry of natural resources which shows you a list of species in various locations around the city.

    Urban Fishing Opportunities

It really depends on what you're after, since you fish in UK you might be more interested in going after Pike and Carp? :dunno: In June, carp action should be fired up and you can potentially get 40+ pound fish.

As far as license goes, check out this web site ... Fishing license

Make sure you read the fishing regulations and be familiar with it before you head out.

    Good luck.

  7. You still don't have a baitcaster Mike? You probably should get one ... I'm sure eventaully you will want to try to learn it at some point, why not pick one up now during the off season and just learn to cast in the basement or something? I'm still not very good at it yet but I love burning the spinnerbaits/spinners using the baitcaster. Once you get better at it you should be able to get better accuracy and potentially distance too ... besides ... it saves the hassle to 'open bail, close bail" everytime you cast when you're retrieving the lures at a fast rate

  8. nice kemper ... i know how you feel, got my 1st pin (aventa) as a gift from the gf half a year ago and i take it out from time to time just to spin it and play with it... got real busy with school so i have yet to take it out to the river

we gotta get together sometime and you can hook me up with some chrome!

  9. i just started getting into float reels and my gf got me an okuma Aventa ... haven't used it yet so i can't tell you about it ...

just a heads up though, if you do end up deciding to get the raven SST3, i see a new one on ebay right now for $270 US ... too bad the canadian dollar is so weak at the moment

  10. hey guys & girls ... just had 2 flat tires on my car in a span of 2 weeks (now I just gotten a new set of winter tires) and that experience got me thinking ... how would you know if your trailer got a flat tire on the road? When I got the flat on my car I clearly felt that my car was getting pulled towards one side ... would you feel anything with the trailer though? I understand that it will dip down lower on one side, but is it significant enough for the driver to see?

Assuming that there are no other cars nearby to let you know, what does it feel like? It would help to know before hand so I will be able to notice it sooner and fix it before damaging the trailer. I hope it won't ever happened though *knock on wood lol*

arg man i gotta stop thinking about softwater ...
