  1. I really never considered fishing Lake O from shore until I have been seeing these posts lately. Good inspiration, plus maybe it will take a little pressure of the usual smaller lakes that get pounded on this time of year. Keep it up my man
  2. Thanks guys. I forgot its mothers day on Sunday. Gotta work on the car Saturday and having family over Sunday so I was really ticked that I wasn't going to be able to get out, but now that I found out its the 19th I'm still on track for the opener!!
  3. I was thinking the same thing Thank's for the sneak peak !!!
  4. bump to posting it up to early....
  5. breathables will only get you one thing.............WET !!!!! I have had the BPS $150 dolalr pair and they were good for about 5 outings before they leaked in both legs through the seams. I then purchased a pair of simms (top notch) ...... they lasted a season and began leaking through the seams as well. After two or three pairs I got upset and sick of the returning and waiting for warranty bullpoop and went back to the BARE neoprenes. There a pain in the ass to put on and take off but they are reliable. Just my 2 cents Oh ya and I have two buddies that did the same thing and all of ours failed miserably , just incase you think its a one hit wonder !!!
  6. Good point, you guys are probably right ....
  7. I dunno. To me it looks like its in the right section. Guess I am gonna have to call the ministry tomorrow to find out for sure. Hey AZULUSPOOKED What's this about from under the bridge ( i assume the 400) to the locks is a sanctuary ???
  8. Hey guys, considering the locks at port severn opened this week, I was thinking of going up for some possible walleye and pike action. I have fished it in the summer for smallies and the occasional pike, but I was wondering if walleye and or pike come up to the locks to spawn this time of year. Has anybody fished it this time of year ? any info appreciated ? THANKS
  9. Thanks guys...personally I like it better when there are crouds. It defenitely separates the men from the boy's !!! And its always good for a laugh with my buddies over some of the loogens that come out of the wood work on the opener.
  10. Well much can't be said about this years opener. Great water conditons up north. The rain from Thrusday Friday was light making perfect water color. 3'rd year fishing this river on the opener and every year is a prize. Lots of chrome post spawn females. One after another non stop action . Me and 3 buddies each took 1 fish home and released all the others. Here's some highlights. Picks are from both days.
  11. Its ok, a little mud will separate the men from the boy's... its sorta better so then Sunday when most of the 1 day a year guys are at home the water will settle and the fishing should be hot with less people !!
  12. Ah Denny's , these pictures really hurt !! . I bet you were dreaming of fishing that pool when you were there !!! Come opening morning it has more people on it than a Union station Subway at 8:30AM !!! Its the only pool you can fish opening morning with 1000 guys and not have to hear one of them bickering and complaining...gotta love Denny's roar !!
  13. Got out this morning for day break, headed out to the bottom of Cooks to a local park (if you fish crappie on simcoe you know this park !!) . One after another of some decent size perch, but few crappie were being caught. Only managed two myself. Most guys were getting the odd one but nothing to get excided over yet. Seems as if the big run has not come in yet. Should be in with the next warm spell. Here's some pictures of the park in Keswick along with a few pics of the fury of boats in Holland Landing Choice of the day was berkley power bait mini tubes which scared of the smaller fish only hooking the better sized ones, and of course tiny pin head minnows if you really want non stop action !! LOL at the few die hearts who tried launching the boats and heading into the bay. It only took tops half an hour before they were back in the park fishing the canal de-frosting from the cold !!
  14. Hey guys..I was thinking of heading out to Fenelon falls for the walleye opener this year. I have heard some good things about it from some old timers who used to go years ago... is there still a good run coming up to the falls ? Have you had good success on the opener or soon after ? Haven't had a chance to look it up in the regs but it does open this saturday with the Kawarthas correct ? I fished it this summer for the first time and had some good success with the smallies...
  15. nice job...and you were worried it would be to muddy !!!! ...Thursday and Friday should be sweet
  16. on the centerpin.....8lb green fireline with 6 lb froghair or drennan fluro
  17. great report....I was thinking of going down to check it out soon but it looks like its gonna be a few more weeks before we have some fishable water at the bottom of cooks
  18. Headed out east to check out Oshawa and Duff's yesterday. Thought it would of cleared up a bit after the nice weather on Friday but with all the runoff they were both still really muddy. I made the trip so I dedicated some time to the mud for a few hours..Tried out some of Jim Butley's turbide/stained water techniques I read about in his book I picked up at the show, but unfortinately still got skunked.....must of seen 30 guys atleast 3-5 at every hole and didn't see one fish come out. The fish are in but moving alot with these levels..mid week should make for some promising conditions.... Good luck to you guys that can get out mid week....looking forward to seeing some pic heavy reports as I rave in jealousy from my desk at the office !!
  19. great report....I was thinking of going down to check it out soon but it looks like its gonna be a few more weeks before we have some fishable water at the bottom of cooks
  20. yup got to agree with Scott ...the riverwoods are hard to beat !!! I am surprised to see to see your confidence in white !! I have been confident in the pinks and purples as far as vibrant colours, but haven't given that much dedication to white jigs. I guess I am gonna have to spend a little more quality time trying em out. cool idea with the LED floats !!
  21. I have been several times last year....got a good 10lb pike and several 1-2lb smallies....I fished at the south side of the lake by the first island just up from the Dam and really wasn't to impressed....The few times I fished from the bottom of the Dam from shore I got into some nice size smallies and lots of cats and carp.. I even pulled out one nice brown about a 1.5lbs.. Has anyone fished the top part of the lake ? I always wondered if it was worth venturing up...
