  1. Hi everyone, I have the opportunity to spend the long weekend at a cottage on Lake Vernon and am having trouble finding info on it. Can anyone give me some clues/links/maps. Or just let me know what type of fish there are in the lake so I know what to bring. Thanks very much Mark
  2. MJL, That fish that you think is a walleye or perch is neither, it's a Darter. I bet you caught it in a creek or river, they are prevalent in these types of waters. When I was younger, we caught them in Grindstone Creek. Very rough scales. Mark
  3. Spent the weekend at the French River Lodge with 5 buddies. Fishing Friday night was good 8 picks in our boat, but only a couple for the table kept. Someone posted recently about the cats and they were right. A lot caught and they are delicious in the deep fryer. A few pike on both days as well. Rained all day Sat. until 6pm. Got soaked in the morning but did well in the evening. The pickeral on the fishing rod end is something I have never seen in my life. My buddy, knowing it was a small fish "tournament styled" it into the boat. As he did that, the fish went flying throught the air towards me at the back of the boat, did about 10 flips and landed on the end of my second rod (see pic) and hung there dead as a doornail. You could imagine our laughter. It was a beautiful spot with lots of fish but you really need a week there to experience all it has to offer. Thanks for the tips. Gill - aka Frenchie (the camp hand) helped us out a lot so we took him out with us on Saturday night and provided the beers after. He enjoyed that. Mark
  4. I found it after I wrote the post, thanks Clamp-it. Mark
  5. Hows the fishing? Pick's biting. Anyone been out that way as of late. Thanks in advance, Mark
  6. Haulinbass, I caught all of my fish on a fire tiger pattern Frenzy. Reeling fast, with occasional pauses. Two fish on a brown and silver speckle tube. All the smallies are gorging on Gobies. Matching that can also work well. We launched out of LB @ MM. Mark
  7. Hi Guys, Was with two friends on Erie this weekend. 21 fish between the 3 of us. Brought some home for a feast and released the rest. 4 over 4lb. Here is a pic of a couple nice ones. Mark
  8. I caught a brand new Shimano rod and real combo this spring at Port Dover. Still had the tape on the handle. I figure someone left their rod unattended and got spooled. I initially thoght I was snagged untill it started to come up. Funny. Mark
  9. Hi, I have a place just past Halls. I talked to John at Canarvon bait on Wednesday and he told me nothing was open; not even around Boshkung at Buttermilk. However, like previously discussed, the warm weather should bring drastic change. Mark
  10. Thanks guys, We are heading up on the weekend and I didn't want to drag the boat all the way up if we can't put it in the water. A few more weeks by the sounds of it. Mark
  11. Wow!, Mabey I need to bring my ice rod instead of my boat.lol Mark
  12. Hi, Are the lakes still frozen over up there? Thanks for the info, Mark
  13. Hi, Does anyone have any info about this spot? We have planned a trip there on May 24th for a walleye weekend. How is the fishing? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark
  14. Hi Guys, I hear alot of talk about how hot the walleye fishing is right now in Erie. Does anyone know where a decent spot is? Is the distance from shore walkable? One guy told me they were getting them in 4 ft. Are they getting them in the ports? Thanks, Mark
