  1. check this page out. http://www.wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/graph/graph_e.html?stn=04ED001
  2. I wouldn't call them mishaps. Just another set of challenges that we met. I would love to do the river again at normal levels. Even with the high water it was hard to keep the trout from jumping into my fly box after the mice I had stashed. One Zoo Cougar probably went 20 casts before I was able to get it all the way back without a pesky fish on the darn thing. I swear one cast produced a fish 6 inches in the air beofre the fly hit the water - aerial feeding behaviour. There was a couple - Michelle and Monique - from Edmonton I think - on the river. They were going to be there for three weeks but had a sat phone and called for a week early pick up because the island they were camped on was shrinking and water was running up against their tent. They flew back to Hearst with us in a pretty crowded airplane.
  3. PS: I forgot to mention - my pickup brokedown north of TB on Friday and I'm still stuck in Duluth waiting to get into a repair facility.
  4. OK - We were right behind you .... and had a very different experience. No Polar Bears except by the pick-up point. What we did have in ten days on the river was great fishing the first few days and slightly high water - then - experienced three days of solid - in more ways than one - cold rain, 50 mile an hour winds and finally a flooded little sticks landscape with record high waters for this time of year. With water already high we ended up scratching out alder real estate to camp and had to move to higher ground twice one evening with hypothermia a very real possibility. It was so wet and windy and cold I didn't even shoot a minute of video. Mike V. said it was the highest water he had ever seen after speing breakup. Was that you leaving all that great firewood behind?
  5. If GRT1 would have told me about Timmy's a couple of weeks ago I would have stayed and applied.
  6. PS: With 5 days there might even be someone in between us....
  7. 5 days should be plenty. We aren't going to be in a hurry even though we've only got 9 river days. In fact - now that we have this conversation we can manage our time to avoid overlap - we can stay in touch as we get closer to the dates. If you know then when you are laying over maybe we can plan accordingly and do the same. Might not be completely spontaneous but better than a crowd. We will be a group of 4 - and we can barely stand to be around each other so we avoid strangers when we can! Melanie was pretty clear about how she times the groups. One of our guys screwed up the dates originally and we tried to shift to a day later - but she wouldn't have it given the next group coming in behind us.
  8. If it's on the net we've got it already - but you are correct - not much out there. We're good at making it up as we go along though. Just don't leave any chewing gum wrappers laying around for us to pick up! Hopefully we won't ride up on your bumper and compare notes post trip.
  9. I'm familiar with the concept. I live an hour from Mille Lacs in MN. Does the technique work as well on Trout as it does on Walleye? In seriousness - this will be our group's 29th annual trip... starting with Albany River canoe trips before the road to Armstrong was paved and when Wabakimi was just the name of a lake and not a park. I spend months drooling over these trips and Sutton is going to be special I'm certain.
  10. We'll do our best to sting every single aggressive fish before you arrive. That's fine - you can have the low hanging "aggressive" fruit. We're more into the challenge of pursuing those that are more difficult to obtain. (Kind of like the Home Coming Queen I took to tthe prom.) The tougher the pursuit the sweeter the meat.
  11. I'll be fishing the Dusey river north of Nakina for a week in early June, then in late August a 12 day float trip down the Sutton river to Hudsons Bay. I'll be on the Sutton from Hawley Lk to HB 8/28-9/7. Please leave some for my group.
  12. The only drawback is my neighbour, who spends the winter in Florida, is coming back in early April and within a day or so of her coming back we usually get a HUGE dumping of snow. (and she refuses to stay in Florida until opening weekend LOL) Now Now - you should be nice to Mary. She keeps us all coming back for more.
