  1. More man hours down here in the states than Europe, yet Europe is more productive.........Ill explain that one. Were all aware of it down here and were ticked off so we spend all our time on the internet reading Fishing related internet discussion forums at work!!

  2. I save my left overs in the fridge till the next weekend and never have a problem

I believe there are many types of leeches, not sure but i think the ones that latch on and feed off of animals are called blood leeches, the ones sold in tackle stores as said are ribbon leeches , maybe sand leeches? ANyway the ones youll get at a tackle shop are unable to harm you. And actually the suction end is not their head, it is the rear end of the leech, and the suction cup is just there to let them stay in place while feeding on a river bed for example. Its just their for them to hang on. While they actually feed from the other end (the narrow end) All this was explained to me by the guy at the tackle shop, so done quote me, im just the messenger of the info he told me lol.

  3. ...what is so wrong with the "Goby"?

There ugly little bait stealers lol. Seriously though.........Im no biologist, but they are an Invasive species that were dropped into the Great lake ecosystem and are not welcome for a few reasons, again im no marine biologist.....But any foreign species is a threat when introduced. One downfall is that they feed on the zebra mussel, which is basically a toxin laden creature that filters the waters of the great lakes. Hence the goby is going to be concentrating those toxins within themselves. And as you follow the foodchain, the smallmouth bass gorge on the goby wihich inturn snowballs the transfer of any toxins found in the goby into any sportfish that feed on them. Im not sure on this, but this is how Ive understood the problem. Also, The goby reproduces quite rapidly and this is a problem for the reasons mentioned above along with the fact that they interfere with catching sportfish on some days........like i said, some days they just deplete your bait without a chance to hook your target species. And again, they are ugly little creatures lol. It was funny because when the BASSMASTERS were here in BUffalo last week, one of the guys on teh podium was asked what made this area such a great smallmouth fishery......and his response was.......Zebra Mussels clearing the waters of the lake (smallmouth are sight feeders and water clarity is key for smallie fishing) and the Goby, because the smallmouth feast on them and that makes for some FAT bass. The goby is plentiful and therefore the smallmouth have no competition for food. Both good points, but both invasive species seen as a detrement by us, were said to be a benefit by pro fisherman. So well see where this whole zebra mussel goby thing goes in the years to come. Im certainly curious.

  4. Was out on Erie on the shores of Buffalo yesterday, and that east wind was definitely kickin. It was an offshore wind for me, so it kept Erie pretty flat in comparison to weeks past. But that would def. kick up ontarios west end coming across the entire open lake. Thats what we on Erie have to deal with all the time with the frequent west winds. I feel for ya, and trust me, i try to get a pic of Erie every time Im out and the rollers kick up, and a photo never shows the true chaos lol. No fun being out in that anyway, so good choice headin in. Get em next time.

  5. Thanks Guys, So im not crazy lol

Amen Headhunter........Erie has been angry all summer man! This past weekend was the first in a while that i could get out and fish comfortably and actually stand up without getting a windshield corner jammed into my ribs, or a face full of water driving into the rollers lol. Lets hope August brings calmer winds

    Good luck this weekend

  6. Has anyone been watching the doppler for the last 3 days. Its strange, but the normal west to east flow of the doppler radar has been actually swirling almost in a counter clockwise direction and the swirlingmasses are traveling in a northwest or westerly direction? WInds out on Erie were coming out of the north over most of this past weekend also which made the lake more tolerable than our usual winds out of the west sweeping across teh lake and making a virtual rollercoaster out there. Just an arbitrary discovery over the last few days. Are these nor-easter patterns were seeing?

You may have to start looping the link to animate the radar, and this isnt as good an example as mondays pattern, but still , its there

    Doppler

Oh, and let me try and at least make this fishing related lol.......has this had any affect on anyones fishing outings lol

  7. whats funny is alot of the boats up close were pretty hammered actually. Which you could understand when you see them all tied up to each other when waiting to get outta the water, or just bouncin off each other when alll grouped up. I guess this is their work vehicle lol.........like a work truck, it gets a beating lol. You can see a nice chunk out of the right rear of that Advanced Auto Parts boat lol

  8. Welp, we finally had the Lake "lay down" nicely this weekend. Its been rollin all of July pretty much and tough to get out without the Motion Sickness Pills. lol Im launching off the Buffalo side and as some may know, we had the Bassmasters tournament here this past weekend. Kinda neat, but makes launching a bit of a nuthouse. Heres a couple pigs from the last couple outings

LOTS of fish out there, the action is pretty consistant with the smaller fish, with some of these heavier fish mixed in to keep things really exciting :thumbsup_anim:

Lost a fish bigger than these on sunday, and Had a beauty that the camera didnt save due to a memory card error. Grrrr!

Find a hump or rockpile on the bottom and fish around it for some action. We caught fish all evening drifting over a large hump that went from 30ft. up to 15 drifting tubes, leeches

  9. Ugh, very sorry to hear, i dont know you at all but i know exactly what your goin thru. Im the worst with this situation. I find it hard to even think of getting a new pet because i think of how hard it was to let go of the previous family member. Thats exactly what they become, family. We are a differnt breed us animal lovers. Alot of people dont understand, for example, how we take days off of work when we lose a pet, or leave the TV or a light on when we leave the house because "the cat will be in the dark", or "she listens to the TV when im gone" lol. I for one am glad i am that way and so are countless other animals out there in good homes. I wouldnt change that about myself.......but it sure makes it hard during times like this. You showed your pet a WONDERFUL, SPOILED ROTTEN lifestyle im sure........and made a HUGE difference in that animals life. Rest well knowing you did so.

  10. Rush.........geddies voice is the lesser of the two evils LOL. they both have many similarities though.......there voices are both terrible, yet somehow they have countless hits........there arrangements and sounds are both unique, they both have a face only a mother could love, and their both the cheapest dressed millionaires Ive ever seen hehe.

Seriously though, there are some Rush songs that I just LOVE , small percentage, but the ones i do like i REALLY like!! I cant say that about Neil. Crank the guitar solo from La Villa Strangiato (Rush) on a quality stereo system and if you dont get goosebumps.......check your pulse. :thumbsup_anim:
