Thats a loaded question.

THeres nothing "wrong" with sticking to a basic red and white........fish have been caught on them since fishing began......but there are so many superior options out there now, youd be silly not to explore.

Again, as bly said, some more information on the application of the float would give everyone a better chance to help out.

I would say in general....the red and white creates maximum resistance because of its profile. Go to more of a pencil profile float (drennan loafer for example)

You also may want to try some live bait, only leave whatever it is naturally bouyant. No weight on the presentation. The weight of the crawler, or leech, or crawdad should be enough to cast if your line is light enough. Something about it falling naturally in the water toward the bottom just gives the fish goosebumps sometimes lol

As said, they are pretty tough to kill if kept in clean water and kept cold

However, this begs the question.......what do these things live off of then.........if they are stuck in a styro container in a fridge, with only themselves in this container..........for months at a time. What supports this thing. Do they just ingest their own slime lol, are they self supporting creatures. Weird if you ask me

the small inland lakes near me are littered with them, because they are small water boats.......youll never see one out on erie lol. i dunno, i would LOVE to have one if i had a cottage on a small lake, on top of my fishing boat........just to entertain.

Always refreshing to see a saltwater post...............that trigger fish is wicked, the beauty of saltwater is ya never know whats gonna surface when your hooked into something. I can imagine the anticipation every time a fish is hooked

I dont eat fish much, when i do, its walleye and perch.........no surprise there, they seem to be the most popular eater fish. I Only gather up a meal one week a year however.

I have eaten smallmouth, YEARS ago so i dont recall much about it, also have had small stocked trout, and pike on the bar-b-q in years past.........and remember them being a good meal.

In general, as said, i think alot of it has to do with water condition, temperature, and fish diet on a particular body of water.

I go to Oneida in New York, and theres a guy that has a trailer at the camp i go to , hes there every summer so i chat with him every time im up and usually have a fish fry with him (eyes) and he swears that hes never tasted better walleye from anywhere else hes fished than out of oneida lake lol. Im not buyin it.

Taste buds differ though, they are like snowflakes.

if you go to a few websites................google suntracker, or crest pontoons, you'll see that they have fishing packages. I dont know what makes them differnet from the other pontoons lol, but i think most pontoon manufacturers have a "fishing line" of pontoons. They probably put a rod holder on it and call it a Fishmaster 5000 or something lol.

Anyway, one thing for sure..........aside from the major drawbacks on performance, the pontoon is alot of bang for your buck.............if your looking for a living room on skis. They are quite the comfortable party barge

No myth, predators do take live stock, i personally know farms that have lost sheep and the odd calf to bears and wolves. People in the city want you to believe that these animals prance around the bush eating berries what a bunch of crock. Why is it a waste he more than likely took a really nice pelt off this animal and who is to say he didn't use the meat. I really don't understand when fisherman bash hunting, your doing the same but instead of animals with fish. If someone was holding a trophy fish I wouldn't bash him on it. Ive heard of catch and release........im not so sure shoot in the face and release is as successful. I would guess that if he tried to release that wolf, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit proooooooobably aint going anywhere.

I posted this inside another thread but thought id throw it out here for anyone who hasnt seen this thing.............for those slow....hot afternoons of fishing. Who needs disney world anymore with stuff like this on the market. Ive looked into them and it seems the manufacturer doesnt offer it currently........but they are out there on the usual e-bay, craigslist sites.

My favorite fish to fish for is anything that swims.

I can tell you that ive had days out on erie, where you just couldnt go wrong with the smallmouth...............and yes, you can see everyone from "experts" to those you just know are novice fisherman bringing smallies to the boat........but i can also tell you ive been out there when you see these same "experts" and novice weekenders not getting a sniff, no matter what their experience or skill level. They shut off, and hunker down and have behavioral migration patterns that force you to fine them, etc etc....just like any other fish does.

Dont let the fact that there may be a dense population of them where YOU fish and you may have gotten into them every time out fool you.

Ive watched many a Bass ignore me.....now, are their more difficult fish out there to target, i dunno....maybe. I know id rather fish for walleye, but that doesnt mean its harder.

One mans trash is another mans treasure. I seem to have the most fun while fishing for species i dont get a chance to fish for enough.
